So I have the SU water color pencils and I am wondering if I should invest in some of the new crayons? The pencils are okay I don't always feel like the color matches totally to the card stock.
Do you have the pencils or the crayons, if so what would you recommend?
I absolutely love the crayons! I bought the entire set that contained the four color families when they first came out. I did buy the neutrals (I think that is what they are called) that contained the black, vanilla, gray, etc.
I got the colored pencils free from a workshop and they are fine too, but I LOVE the crayons!

I have both the pencils and the crayons. Love the crayons, don't care for the pencils.
As for non-toxic, I'm not sure. I just checked the SU Product Guide and they don't sayt one way or another. If it's a concern you might try giving them a call.
I also have both and personally love my crayons. They are in all of the colors and the pencils only represent only a few of the colors offered by SU. the crayons are a great investment.
If only someone would directly deposit money into my account every two weeks, just b/c I am me, then I could buy everything!
I think I will try out the crayons. I have the pencils but for whatever reason they are just not my favorite and I have heard the crayons are good. So thanks!
I got the pencils first, mainly because they didn't offer the crayons then but once I saw the crayons I had to have...OMG I love watercoloring with them...I don't really find myself using anything else to color in a picture with, unless I need really bold color then I use the markers but I love love love the crayons....a must have investment.

I love my crayons! I like the fact that they are portable, and I am learning to get results with mine - deep clear colors - that I think can't be beat! My favorite way to use them is to rub the aquapainter right on the tip of the crayon and then apply it to watercolor paper.
The crayons are more versatile - but the pencils are more precise.
ALso don't forget when you use your crayons with the Aquapainter - don't dip from the pointed end of the crayon - use it from the flat end. That way you will maintain the point of your crayon for when you need it - like rubbong directly onto a stamp and misting.
:-)

Ok...this makes me want to ask a few questions...mainly to deter myself from *NEEDING* all the crayons now...haha!
I use the aqua painters with the inside lid of the ink pads and get fairly bold coloring this way, however it can be uneven since it dries pretty quickly.
Would the crayons give me just as bold of a color and let me have more time to blend??
Also...I am surprised that SU has not come out with the exact colors in the pencils as well...I do like the pencils for watercoloring, and purchased about 20 more single colors at Michael's but still when I do a larger area, and want it to match up to paper, I use the ink pad method.
Thanks!
Cher

You have raised questions for me too.... I just ordered the crayons on my first order as a demonstrator.... I have never seen them used. How exactly does everyone apply them? I see above that Cindy uses the aquapainter directly onto the crayon ... how else are they used??? Thanks! I am glad I ordered them with all these great comments!
