What exactly is this? It comes with the Big Shot that SU! sells. If I get this, do I still need to order the extended plates for the Bigz dies?

The multipurpose platform adds height to the "sandwich". You flip the tabs to change the platform thickness. One tab is used for embossing and another for cutting.

You can use the Bigz dies without the platform. They use the cutting plates. But if you want to use the XL (longer die) you will need the extended plates. (confusing, I know. I just got mine last month and am still learning what works with what)
