Red face 714 ATG gun messing up

I have the original red 714 ATG gun. Over the years (bought it new) I have had more problems. The tape only rolls smoothly till it gets about half way thru the roll. I do remove the right side where the blank tape rolls up to make sure the tape isn't bunching up. I have cut round circles out of cardboard and placed them over the reels to help keep the tape down (as one video demonstrated) .. but lately this isn't helping. i know I saw somewhere you can buy replacement parts for the right side, but I can't seem to find them. It is frustrating to try and use it on my cards. I used to buy the tape from Framing Supplies, and now just buy on Amazon. I make sure to only purchase a few rolls at a time since I discovered if the tape sits too long it won't roll smoothly. I need to buy some 5/16 inch washers to put under the 2 rollers to help keep the tape from rolling off the rollers, but that won't solve the problem of the rolls not wrapping correctly for use. I found a video that shows to push to center on the right side to correct the tension, but this also did not help. Any advice will be greatly appreciated ! thank you..

Oh that stinks. I haven't had trouble with mine except for the off-brand adhesive I purchased a few years ago. It unwound badly throughout using, and lots of adhesive ended up in wads in the trash. Now I stick with 3M brand only, not their Gold style, and haven't experienced icky rolling since. I, too, have purchased many times from Framing Supplies in bulk purchases of 12+ at a time, but again, not the Gold 3M, but just 3M.

Best wishes as you sort through this ickiness.

I hate to say it, but can you get a new one? My original is still working well, but I did buy another one to have around. I found one for $10 so now I have 3.
