1/2" punch and alphadots

Hi. I recently bought both the alphadots and 1/2 inch punch to punch them out. I thought that the punch was slightly larger than the stamped alphadot image...but mine is smaller. Are the new punches smaller than they used to be? I have seen on several gallery cards etc... that there is s small white border around the alphadots after the punching....I like that border. Are you using a different punch?

Please advise.

Thank you,
Amy

If you're seeing a white border around the alphadot stamp, it's using a different punch - not SU's. SU's stamp is smaller than the stamped image, just as you described.

punch

Mine have alittle border when using the alphadots but my punch is Creative Memories though. I really love the effect of a little border around it.

I think someone mentioned using the 3/4" punch that's part of the CM mini circle punch, but I'm not positive. That'd probably work, though.

I ran into the same problem and realized that SU does not sell a punch that is the right size to do what I had wanted.... :?

Anytime you see SU with white around the edges, they usually have the coluzzle in their recipe.

I had planned to order the Alphabits stamp set from the spring mini,
along with the 1/4' circle and square punches. Are you saying that
the punches are actually going to be too small to punch out the letters
from the Alphabits set? If punching those letters out is going to have to
a "crap shoot" situation I may as well not order the punches, right?

No, they are talking about a different alphabet and different punches.

I've been looking for a 3/4-inch circle punch everywhere. SU doesn't sell one, which doesn't make much sense to me!

So ... just yesterday I bought a CM mini circle maker on *bay. It's going to be exactly a great size for doing circle punches for cards, IMO. I have the Simple Shapes set, so I wanted small circles punched out.

Anyway ... SU should offer all sizes of circle and square punches!!!! That's so basic, IMO!!! They offer 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 ... they should offer all the circles on up!!!

I've used the 3/4 CM mini circle punch to have the white border. I prefer the thumb punches since you have to really use your both hands to press down. Hopefully SU will sell the 3/4 thumb punch. I'll buy it for sure!

I totally agree, Rachel -- after using the thumb punches since becoming a demo, I now totally see the difference in the two punch styles. I *much* prefer the thumb-punch style. But I couldn't find a 3/4-inch thumb punch anywhere, and I looked at lots of local stores and online.

I was working on a project recently and was in a hurry, so I bought a couple of circle punches at a LSS. They're two sizes that SU offers, but I needed them in a hurry. (SU orders take a week to get to me from the time they're shipped.) They're the "old style" (without the thumb lever) and I REALLY don't like them. So I've already started replacing them with SU punches. :)

Can't wait till I get those 1/4-inch punches. They're gonna be so fun!! And comfy, too!!!

I ran a search and found 3/4" circle punches on the internet.
Here's just one of them:
