i chose 'some of both', because a lot of times I am just too lazy to format the computer journaling. When I do use computer journaling, I love the look though.
Location: Wishing I was not at work but I have to pay for my hobbies some how! LOL!

I always type my journaling out on vellum paper from Microsoft Word. When I get my pictures back, I sort them in order and I make any titles or journaling that hits me at the time. Then I cut it out and put it in front of the picture(s) it relates to. Then I can create my scrapbook pages without having to keep running back and forth to the computer. It's been working well for me!
I tend to do all mine in word, print them out and mat on coordinating paper that matches the pic/pics it relates with; I like the look and I don't have to worry about my handwriting changing/deteriorating as I go along. Since I have about four or five different handwriting styles depending on my mood, hurriedness, tiredness, etc. I don't like chancing it with my pages. I like consistency.
For albums/layouts for me, I do handwriting because I do the layout and fit in where the journaling should go, sometimes in a box. I would hate to have to stop then and there to go type it out and print it out, and/or try to fit the layout around something I have printed out ahead of time. I like to make journal boxes and coordinate with the layout (stickers on a square of journaling box or circle).
For albums I have made as gifts, I did print out the journaling - made it nice and neat and elegant looking.
If I want to include a story about a picture then I'll use the computer and print it out in a font that works with the theme of the photo's, but if I just want to identify who is in a photo, or make a few quick comments then I hand write. I think that someone might want to see my actual handwriting later, so don't want to always use the computer.

I voted "some of both", but mostly I hand write my journaling b/c I want my page to be completely finished if possible and I am not always near my computer.
I like the look of typed but I do both. I think it is important to have my own handwriting on my pages for my kids and my grandkids to have one day. I know that at 32 years old and with all of my grandparents gone now (and they have been for some time) I would cherish anything written in their own hand. The times that I use type are when there is a lengthy story to tell on a page.
I chose hand written, because I have never even thought that I could do type. I do love the way it looks though- just never dawned on me that I could put it my scrapbooks too... I think I just got hit on the head by an apple!
I would handwrite 90% of the time - I don't scrap near my printer and most of the time it's just easier to write it out instead of mucking around with the computer. :-D
but I have a question...are most computer inks archival? Wondered if the brand matters as far as fading or similar issues.

farmgirl74 that is a really good question. I hand write mostly and use archival pens but never thought about it with my computer ink. DUH.....I think I just got hit with an apple too
I also voted "some of both" but mostly I journal by hand. But that's primarily b/c the computer is not in my scraproom and my son is almost always on it so it's just easier and faster to do it myself. Plus, I frequently journal right on my background paper. However, if the computer is free and I haven't already cut the paper I will journal on the computer. Also, if I have quite a lengthy story to tell, I will type it on the computer. But THAT takes a bit of planning ahead for me!

I do both. When I do traditional pages, I usually handwrite my journaling unless it's a HUGE amount and I need to get it in a certain amount of space. Now I digi scrap and I've found a font that is pretty close to my handwriting style so I use that!
I choose some of both. I mostly hand write my journaling because I was encouraged to do so for memorial purposes. I've typed a song on vellum previously and used it somewhat as a background. I also typed a Bible verse and used it in my son's album from when he was blessed at church. These are the only times I can think I used the computer.
I chose some of both and it usually depends on 2 things - the volume of writing required (i.e. do I have a story to tell or am I just labelling who, what, and where), and how recent the pictures are.
If the pictures are patently obvious as to the event (i.e - you can tell it's a birthday party and who the birthday girl/boy is), then I will probably just hand journal near the pertinent pictures. If however, I need to tell a story, then I will usually computer journal. I am a very simple scrapbooker, and don't get too fancy.
But what make it easier for me is, I don't journal immediately. I start by choosing my papers and mount my pictures ONLY - no embellishments, no journalling. I will continue this for months at a time (gasp!). I will use sticky notes to give myself reminders of dates/times/events if necessary. Then, when I am in the mood, I will go back and review the pages. I will measure out any spaces that I have to put journalling boxes, and then write out my story with the measurements beside it. When I have 10 or so pages worth of journalling written out, I will then go to my computer and print out my journalling in appropriate sized boxes and mount them to the pages. Only after that is completed will I add embellishments if the page still needs it.
Of course, I have been known to journal right away if I feel like it, but most of the time I have to be in the mood to journal. That's the beauty of scrapping - there is no right or wrong way to do it - it's whatever floats your own boat that works!

It was hard choosing just one, I do mostly typed and printed but once in a while I will write. I do not like the lookd of my pages when I write it out, but I do want some of my writing in the books for my grandkids.
I print my words out on copy paper then use repositional tape to temp adhere the dp paper or shape I want, then run it though my printer.
It works for me, then if I "run out of room" I just resize what I have written!
I do a bit of both, but usually write it by hand. Although I love the look of computer journaling, usually when I am scrapbooking, it is just not gonna happen! What drives me nuts is when I have a journaling block ALMOST done, and then I muck up the last word....Argggg!

I have done both as well. Right now though, i've been getting pictures together that I want to use on a page, sit at my computer and write up some text in photoshop and print it on cardstock. Then cut them out for the layout. It's a bit tedious though. I would prefer to hand write journalling all the time except my handwriting is not the greatest. :/
Although I do type out and print some of my journalling, I try to do the majority by hand. The reason I do this is because someday when I am long gone, my kid and his family (hopefully, as he is only 10 now, lol) can look through the scrapbooks I have made and see my actual handwriting. I think it's cool to look back and see my grandparents handwriting on some things ... I just think that it is kind of a "connection" to you, if you are gone (as in deceased gone) and others see a part of "you" there. Does that make sense? It does to me, lol.
I never did get very good at figuring out how to make my journaling box exactly the size I wanted, so I've never tried again. I remember struggling to learn about 10 years ago! So now I just hand journal everything.
I've heard it said that hand journaling is the best because you leave something of yourself behind with it. I do have a picture of me fifteen minutes after I was born and on the bottom of that pic is my mother's handwritting that say... Kathleen 15 minutes old. She wrote that in 1940. All of my grandchildren really like that. So I say do some hand writing and leave it for those people who look at your pictures 70 years from now.
I voted a little of both. I hate my handwriting, so I prefer to type and print but that is not always an option so in those cases I hand journal. Typing and printing also gives me more control over size and positioning. I hate when I have hand written it and then I have too much room left or it is too cramped and sloppy.
I chose some of both. I think that sometimes is great do handwriting an special scrapbooks pages. And I like do scan my hand writing, printing it on a vellun and add to the page. That's fantastic!
I never could get the hang of printing out a journaling box exactly the size I wanted it. I did it a couple of times, and just ended up writing my journaling from there on out. My handwriting doesn't bother me. I mean, it's not great, but my kids will always recognize my handwriting.
