Idea Star Box Template

I was asked to share the scoring lines from my star shape treat box, you can use any size, you need 4 equal panels and 1 glue edge, you mark always the middle from the panel then score the diagonals from this mark to the left and to the right corner. the diagonals are mountain folds the straight lines are valley folds.

you punch only 2 holes for the ribbon.

Enjoy!!

Lovely project - this would be fun for Blitz next year!

Anita? quick question - I've made enough boxes to know that the bottom squares/rectangles will fold over each other to make the bottom - does it matter what size they are?

So - the bottom horizontal line is a fold...and snip in-between the four bottom panels. Cut out the bottom panel underneath the glue fold, right?

Wonderful! I was wondering what to make for favors for my 94-year-old (?) mother-in-law’s get together. I can’t be there but will put some nice candies in them for her and her guests. Just have to figure out a good size and which candy - I’m open to any ideas.

Thank you!

Ha! That’s exactly what what we talked about not five minutes ago! Great minds...

I’ll make enough that anyone dropping by her house can have a little favor to take home. And the little tags Tim Holtz just showed on his Christmas hacks blog/video could hang from each one.

We do very little for the holidays, but I enjoy making something for my mother-in-law and her crew.

Yes this is it!!

I think the best way is to try it with a paper you don't care about and try different sizes, mine are out of a A-4 sheet and I kept 1 1/2" for the bottom

Oh, candles, nice. (We don’t use them because of fluffy cat tails that are attached to cats.)

And peppermint sticks or other flavor sticks. Also inexpensive, and would be put in a snack baggie first: peppermint white & red M&Ms. Even Michael’s sells them. Hershey Kisses. Jewelry. Keys to a new car.

Serendipitously, Tuesday morning had a massive display of Lindt truffles. I didn’t know if the price was good so called my husband to check, but a shopper overheard me and said they were a great buy, half price. So I bought a bunch, mostly matching foil colors to the papers I also found.

Echo Park (Bella Road) “Wintertime” - 10 sheets of aqua/white/gray/red patterns, sometimes all the colors, sometimes two or three, in snowflakes/stars/swirls/stripes, etc., so bought their two packs. Another Tuesday morning is holding their last pack for me, so three packs should do the trick no matter what size bags I make.

Maybe I’ll make some star bags and some boxes, or cut a window in some of the bags and Scor-Tape on acetate.

So thank you again Anita!

Beth

P.S. Lindt’s with foil colors that don’t match the bags can be eaten by the person making the bags, since we wouldn’t want to waste them, right?

I hope you'll show us the result (and the empty papers...)

My first quickie attempt using copy paper was kind of, um, a mess? No surprise there!

May I assume the unmarked first diagonal on the template is a mountain fold?
And best to use a scoreboard for scoring? That’s what I always use but maybe there’s a better way.

Thank you, and sincerely,
Not a Fancy Folder

both star point lines are mountain folds, I used my score board too, but you need a heavier paper than copy paper, I use linen card stock, or heavy design paper easy to score.

Thank you! And yes about the cardstock - I just used a piece of copy paper to see how it fit together and get an idea of size directly from your printed out template. It’s nice it can be made any size without math.
