This is the thrifty crafter's version of the new label die shapes. I've been finding them really handy for printing on the back of cardstock or patterned paper, so I thought I'd share 'em. They're not flawless, I'm sure, but they are free. ;O)

If you use 'em please link to this blog post so we can see your creations :O) and everyone can share 'em:

http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2008/1...nary-pdfs.html

PDFs Attached below:

1) Small rectangular label (3 5/8" wide by 2 3/4" high)
2) Medium rectangular label ( 3 6/8" wide by 3" high)
3) Large rectangular label ( 4 2/8" wide by 3 2/8" high)

You can also alter sizes by using scaled printing in Photoshop or use the JPGS.

LIGHT JPGs for resizing or manipulating are available here in the SCS template gallery or my gallery:

----SMALL linked here
----MEDIUM linked here
----LARGE linked here

:O)

DARK VERSIONS of these HERE

Usin' the templates: The three sizes mean you can layer the labels as mats if you like.

I like to print them on the back of whatever paper & cut em out. then you don't see the lines. But if you are comfortable using a craft knife (exacto or hobby blade) then that can be even better because you can use the frame & the inside label shape. :O)

Hope they're useful to you,
:O)
Mel

Thank you for the Templates Mel. I can't wait to use them. They are going to be fun to work with...

shastess 11-22-2008 05:10 AM

How large is the large? Is it still smaller than the topnote itself?

hedgiemama 11-22-2008 05:23 AM

These are great, thank you!!:-D

suzymax09 11-22-2008 05:25 AM

I measured what I printed off and got 3 1/4 by 4. That is a rough estimate.

stampztoomuch 11-22-2008 05:31 AM

Thanks so much Suzy. I meant to add measurements, but I haven't been feelin' well. You ROCK! :O)

Thanks for the comments everybody. Sorry I can't compare the Top Note. Not sure what size the Sizzix are. I have a Cuttlebug and wasn't overjoyed with the Sizzix dies for cutting with it (funfoam felt etc.) so I never bought the top note... I still have my heart set on the label Nesties, but thought these would do in a pinch. :O)

Thanks so much for sharing. I have been scoping the dies out and just wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much. This is great especially at this time of year. I've seen alot of good ideas using them...thanks again for taking the time to share with everyone.

Hey Mel: I am having trouble printing out the templates - not showing up too well on paper or cardstock. Is there a trick to printing out the lines darker with a .pdf file? I double checked to make sure that my printer wasn't on gray scale mode. Please help..would love to use some of these wonderful templates. Thanks much!

scrappinangler 12-05-2008 05:28 PM

Totally! LOL You're so right. But I'm having a hard time finding them in Canada & I'm broke. Plus this way I can scale up and down to fit whatever I like (and get the layers as close as I want....) And there are SO many crafters who can't afford all the machines all of the world too... :O)

I second you on that! This saves more space too! They will go down in price one of these days - tee hee! But it's awesome that you are able to create these templates. :)

stampztoomuch 12-06-2008 06:26 AM

You got it Alma! Thanks so much for giving me the heads up that they were so light. The rectangular ones are linked above look for the turquoise text. (And I added the sizes too.) Hope they work well. Sorry about the dark labeling on them. I may be able to fix that some day, but I have to make a bajillion Christmas cards by Monday. heehee, :O) Mel

Yey! It works now...No worries on the label at the bottom. You should have that info in big bold letters for credit. You work so hard on these templates and we all appreciate you sharing it with us!

stampztoomuch 12-06-2008 06:52 AM

Hi Alma,

I'm going to have to wait a bit on the square ones, since I have to get back to filling that Christmas card order, but I won't forget. :O) mel

smallcity 12-06-2008 07:08 AM

How do you make the templates larger? I know it can be done, but i don't know how. Can someone tell me a simple way to re-size? i have microsoft office word if that helps. Thanks so much.

You need to enlarge it via "copier" or if your in like Word you can enlarge the "graphic" by streching it.

The Top Note is the perfect size for cards. :-D

stampztoomuch 12-06-2008 07:57 AM

Resizing these

The JPG versions are available in the template gallery linked above for you.

You can resize JPGs using any photo software or just the scaled printing in your printer setting.

I have MS word (it won't open images of course) but maybe you have MS photo manager? You can just open the JPG in whatever photo software you have, and when you go to print select print properties.

It may depend on your printer how you resize things, but mine has an option for scaled printing where you can adjust the % percentage. Hope that helps you out.

It may take some manipulation, but then you have a custom size...

For those who have Photoshop, you can just open the PDFs in Photoshop & use "print with preview" and increase the percentage.

:O) Mel
