Thank you so much. I saw cake boxes in a book I bought some time ago (I believe it was K & Company, but unsure), but they gave no clue as to how to make them or anything. I wanted to make these so bad for a friend's bridal shower, to no avail!
These patterns are better than the one I found at Mirkwood Designs. You are awesome!
evn1070.......I believe the Ghiardelli box was shown in one of the recent weekly emails from SCS..try a search ? I want to make one, but am afraid I'd eat all the candies and have to send empty boxes !
Okay, I just found some quiet time to fix the patterns. I ended up just tracing all of the numbers, levels and lines w/ a ruler and a marker. Cut the outer lines, trace the inner ones, and cut the two half lines on the tabs. I hope that they're clear enough now. If not, PM me for more details. The bottom layer pieces are actually about the size of a serving. I'm starting one tonight for a bridal shower too, (I think we're filling it with small candies for everyone). And another one next week. I'll try to upload a pic this week when its done. I'd love to see the ones that you guys make too!
How Do I get this to print to actual size...when I print it and measure your lines they fall short...is this just an eyeball and I use it to make my own...or should I be able to print this out on cs and just assemble...
hi, i came across an old post you left on this site and I was wanting to ask you a question about the templates for the box cakes. The three different sizes you shared with everyone, did you make those yourself and if so what did you use to make them? Thank you so much, Rita
Hi guys, sorry I'm late answering some questions here! The templates are from the SU website. If you're a demo, go to the May 2007 issue and you can print the templates out. Otherwise, you can do them with a Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge. Does this help?

Hi Amber,
Thank you so much for replying. I'm sorry but I'm not sure what the SU Website is. Is that stand for Stampin Up? I think I'm really missing out on something good cuz I've heard so much about Stamping and I'm not familiar with it. Anyways, I've made the cakes using the TBB&M cartridge but I don't like the way the cake slices open up. I'm looking for one that opens differently. Thank you so much for your help,
Rita
Rita, welcome to the world of stamping! SU does stand for Stampin' Up and the website I mentioned is for the SU demonstrators only. The slices do open up differently and I actually like the SU version better than the Cricut one. The downfall is I have to trace, cut, and score them all by hand that way instead of standing by and watching them cut themselves. It's a give-take. Have you ever seen an SU catalogue? What medium do you work with?

Hi Amber. I was able to find a demonstrator in my town and she's going to drop off a catalog. When you say you like the way the cakes open up better on SU what do you mean? Do they sell sheets of templates? I do know what you mean about having to cut the templates by hand....that's not cool!!
Thanks for all your help,
Rita
Rita, I'm glad to hear that you'll be browsing your way through an SU catalogue soon! Beware addiction!! SU doesn't sell template sheets; demonstrators are able to access templates and such via the demonstrator side of the website. The SU slices open in the middle w/ two interlocking tabs instead of the flap that tucks in on the TBB&M. It's nice if you want to add a flower, it stands out more since it's not laying flat.

I just made several of these from the pdf files posted in the beginning of this thread. They came out so nicely, the pattern works great. I made them look like slices of wedding cake because my book club is ready "Wedding in December" by Anita Shrieve. Here's a peek.

Hmmm...looks good enough to eat! ;) Your cake slice turned out very pretty! TFS!
can't remember which cartridge...but I've seen this done w/the cricut
Tags, bags boxes & more has a cake pie slice, You could stretch, or squash it to make the teirs, 17 hours one lady said, that might be too long a project for me though LOL!
I just fkound this and I am going to try it while I am snowed in. i can't figure out how to print it on card stock in the right size. I am using post #5's pdf. It says to enlarge 200%
but I am unable to figure that one out. When I enlarge it while looking at the pdf it still prints smaller. anyone know what to do?

Amber thank you so much for posting this , I am making a present for someone and filling this with m&m with their faces, and wanted to do a cake I saw Michales has a new kit and was going to go buy it today but decided to look here ( why did'nt I think first of this) and see if anyone had a templet I printed yours out and then copied it to pattern paper just to see how it looked it was great and took no time at all so I know I can do it. Have my daughters wedding coming up to so this well be great for the pre-wedding party to . I can see that I will use this for many many things in the future. Agian thanks so much for sharing.
Has anyone actually made a teired cake using the cricut cart? I am thinking of doing this for my daughters communion this May and am trying to figure out just how to do it. I figured there would be tons of info on sizes and how many boxes each layer and I haven't found anything. Just curious. They are so beautiful and she would be so excited.

I've made plenty of them! I use all different sizes, depending on the event and how many layers it needs. There should be 10 slices per layer. I hope this helps!

Thanks Amber. I have 1 more question if you don't mind. When you size down between the layers do you go down by an inch or more? If I remember from my cake making days regular cakes go down by 2" but not sure that would be the same for this.
Thanks for your help. I think I just might have to try this.

I know that this is sort of a vague answer...but, I don't have an exact system. If I'm making an 8 layer cake, there are only x amount of spaces between the smallest layer I'm willing to make and the largest that the machine will cut. So my spacing is different than if I'm making a 3 layer cake and can space however I'd like. I usually just divide the available space by the number of layers. Does that make sense? To simplify; every cake is different depending on it's needs. Some cakes come out tall and skinny and some are short and stout. Beautiful either way!
