Bd calendar instructions

Here are the instructions I typed up for the birthday calendars in my gallery.
Links:
I have attached the first 3 months (I hope you all can get them) and will attach the others in following messages as I can only upload 3 at a time.
HTH
Debbie

Supplies:
Mat board: two pieces 8 x 4.25
Patterned paper
Solid CS to coordinate w/ PP for calendar pages (do not cut until printed off-then cut to 4 x 7.75)
Two pieces solid CS 4 1/8 x 7 7/8 (for the inside front and back mat board pieces)
Anywhere hole punch
2 Clasp rings
RSVP pen (or other pen of choice)
Sticky note pad
Double sided tape/adhesive
Glue dots
Velcro
Misc: buttons, ribbons, clasps etc to decorate books

Directions:
1. Cut PP 1 larger on all sides than mat board and cover as desired. *Tip: be sure to put double stick tape on the center of the mat board pieces.
2. Embellish one of the pieces which will be the front.
3. Cut ribbon long enough to fit around pen and use glue dots to adhere to loose ends together and to inside front mat board piece. Be sure to leave loop large enough extended from mat board to hold pen.
4. Adhere solid pieces to the inside front and back mat board pieces.
5. Print calendar months to CS and cut to 4 x 7.75.
6. Punch large holes 2 from short ends along left side in all calendar pieces. (I was able to punch 4 at a time)
7. Center one calendar page on one mat board piece and mark to punch holes. Match that mat board piece to the second mat board piece and match holes and punch.
8. Make tabs for each month staggering the tabs. There are several ways you can do this. I have used diecuts, stapled tabs w/ first 3 letters of each month on the tab, & punched circles and cut in half to staple to the calendar pieces. Use your imagination.
9. Clasp all the pieces together and tie several pieces of coordinating ribbon to the clasps.
10. Fold CS to fit around sticky note pad. Mine was 3 wide, so I cut a 3 1/8 piece of CS and scored to fit around pad.
11. Cut a piece of PP to fit just the front of the pad.
12. Adhere Velcro to hold pad closed.
13. Decorate pen as desired and insert in ribbon holder.
14. Write in your family, friends, etc. names and you will be organized!

Note: for the one I am making myself, I am printing 3 pages for each month. The first page will be for family, the second for church ladies (I make birthday cards for all the ladies in our church), and the third for friends. This will keep it separate and leave room for multiple birthdates.
You can also decorate the back sides of each calendar page. Because I am making so many of these for Christmas, I didnt to save on time.
I would love to see what you all come up with.

You are welcome. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Another tip, I'm not sure what it looks like because I can't open that file I put it in. I made it on Microsoft Works Word Processor and SCS wouldn't accept it so saved it to a doc file but I can't open it. Anyway on the file I have, I have it sideways so that I can print one month from each end. I positioned it so that it is clear to the top of the page and all I have to do is cut at 4" and then cut at 7.75" the other way.

My brain is not grasping this part. I understand step 10, cut a piece of paper that is 3 1/8" wide and then however long you need it to wrap around the sticky note pad so that wraps to the front by coming over the note pad. What is step 11 for? Is the piece of paper just for decoration? Patterned paper or whatever? I was looking at the photos you have in the gallery but my brain is wobbling on this.

Thanks for any help you can provide my poor brain. (Mondays maybe aren't a good day to start a project!) LOL

I hope this is an appropriate post to put here.... Quite awhile ago someone had emailed me for my 2-page per month birthday book that I made following the original directions for the book. Could that person email me back with the PDF and Word files that I sent them? My hard drive crashed last month and apparently I didn't back up my templates folder. :(

Thanks!

Kimberly

What kind of mat board do I use for the front and back? Is it something bought from SU or somewhere else and will i have to cut it then?

borcherding 09-14-2007 01:36 PM

Here is a picture of mine. I did something different with your files, I copy and paste so that I could get two months on one sheet of paper instead of just one. Thanks for sharing your idea with all of us :p
