One sheet wonder question

Hello,

I love it! Great job putting it all together! I have a problem though--when I printed out the instructions, none of the fractions printed out! Why would that happen? Am I doing something wrong? Please advise.

Lizardgirl

akstampmama 05-09-2007 04:30 PM

For some reason there have been people who's computers don't like my font. Maybe because word automatically makes the fractions smaller. Maybe you can try changing the font? I am posting the cutting instructions here as well.

12 x 12 cutting instructions

Cut a 4" strip off your sheet. Turn this strip the other direction and cut at 4 1/2" - this is piece A (4 x 4 1/2) for the tote.

From your large piece cut two 1/2" x 12" strips - these are pieces B for the tote handles.

From the 4" strip that you originally cut a piece that is 4 3/4" x 4" - turn this and cut it at 1 1/2" - This becomes pieces C (1 1/2" x 4 3/4"), D (2 1/2" x 4 3/4") and the remaining part is piece E (2 3/4" x 4")

From the large piece cut a strip that is 3 1/4" x 12".

Turn and cut it at 4 1/2" - this is piece F (4 1/2" x 3 1/4")

Cut it at 4 1/2" again - this is piece G (4 1/2" x 3 1/4")

The remaining piece should measure 3 1/4" x 3" - trim this to a 3 x 3 square and then cut into 3 pieces that are 1" x 3" - these are pieces H.

cut the last strip at 5" this is piece I (5" x 3 3/4")

Cut again at 5" for piece J (5" x 3 3/4")

The leftover piece is piece K (3 3/4" x 2")

akstampmama 05-09-2007 04:36 PM

Oh for the actual cards all layering pieces are 1/4" longer & wider than the piece in front of it. (1/8" border all the way around).
Card #3 the vanilla piece I stamped on is 2 1/4 x 1 1/4
Card #6 the vanilla background is 3 1/2 x 4
Card #7 the vanilla I stamped on was 1 3/8 x 2 1/2 trim to 2 3/8 after punching
Card #8 the vanilla is 1 x 2 1/8

all other pieces are either whole numbers or follow the 1/4" bigger rule so that should help you out.

You're the best! I'm so glad I asked 'cause I was going to assume most of the fractions are 1/2 and they're not! I don't understand why the fractions don't show up either.
Thank you--it is much appreciated!!

BatonMom 05-24-2007 10:54 AM

Does anyone have the instructions for the actual tote...the cardstock part...I did not see the dimensions for that part here. I am trying to put one together for a quick gift but am not sure about it.

Thanks!

The box part of the tote is made from one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock. The scoring & cutting instructions are on the second page of the instructions.

Love it!

Thanks for sharing this template and instructions.

I made a tote for my sister's birthday using Sofy Sky, Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi and Porcelain Prints DAP, it was very pretty.

Word to the wise, I could not find my sticky strip and used double stick tape, NO NO NO, the handles failed. Next time, I will have the sticky strip on hand before starting - so when it gets late and I am too lazy to find it, I won't take a shortcut

gkujawa 09-02-2007 06:32 PM

I have searched high and low for the directions for these totes. Finally some who was willing to share. Awesome!! Thanks so much!!

Very inspiring!

My SU demo referred me to this site and I finally took the time to look. Was looking at Lovely Leaves ideas, which lead me to OSW, which led me to Au Chocolat tote and cards - I have just one word: awesome. I immediately became a member because of your idea. Thanks so much!!

:D

atouchof_sol 12-19-2007 12:56 PM

I made the 8 1/2 x 11 purse tote can you make a 12 x 12 tote and where can I find the dimensions for the bigger version

Emerald Tigger 12-19-2007 11:12 PM

I wanted to put envelopes in and our paper here in the UK is a slightly different size to yours so I made one using a sheet of card 10" x 11", the folds where 1 1/2" in from each of the shorter sides and at 4 1/2" and 6 1/2" to make the sides and base.

Hope that makes sense.....and helps:)
