Does anyone out there know how to make an awesome (or any for that matter) winter sky? It is that time to make Christmas cards, and I want to gather ideas on make skies in the winter for Christmas. Cold, snowy, skies. Thanks to all!!! Happy Stamping!!

Try the hairspray/water/Pearl-Ex technique using Interference Silver or Silver Pearl-Ex in the mix. Don't hold the spritzer bottle too close to the paper when you spray it, as the liquid then comes out in big blobs, and you want a fine spray for this background. For a starry sky effect, also try brayering your card with a very small amount of Glitter Glue. Both these techniques work best on dark colored cardstock. If you only want a few 'stars' in the sky, put a small dab of glitter glue onto a piece of scrap paper, and pick up small dots of it with the end of a toothpick or straight pin, and dab the glue onto your card in the sky area. I have attached a pic of one of my Christmas cards done with the hairspray method for the sky, altho the scan doesn't do justice to the card. In 'real life' it is very shimmery and pretty (I used Interference Silver Pearl-Ex here).
Hope this helps.

Here's an idea that I used a lot last winter. I embossed the polar bear with white EP on vellum, then used my finger to smudge pastel chalks across the back to get the effect of "northern lights". It looked really cool and I got lots of questions.

Good luck.
