I made mine and am trying to figure out the best way to fill the tins because the lids are pretty loose and I am afraid when I add goodies the lids will just fall off. I would like to be able to reuse this for years to come though! Can anyone advise??
I am planning on adding a little scavenger hunt hint in each tin. The kids will then have to find their treat somewhere in the house.
I can't wait. I think this will be so much fun.
I will only add one hint each day while they are in school and hide the treat then. That way they can't stumble on treats even if they go snooping.
I was actually thinking of using them for just some sort of uplifting note, or quote, maybe even a scripture a day leading up to Christmas. They were kind of small for an actual treat but I thought it might be fun to have some sort of holiday centered thought for the day.
I am going to make a simple ornament for each of mine. Just a nested circle punchies on a ribbon with a stamped Christmas image. Then my DD can hang all the ornaments on a tiny tabletop tree. Trying to keep the 3 year old candy free as long as possible...

I was at WalMart (Canada) in the housewares dept. and they have the metal spice racks with the little round tins w/ clear lid, the tins were sold seperate for .96 cents each - anyways, are these the same type of tin?
You can buy a package of 25 for $19.99 at JoAnn Fabrics. We punched out a circle and stamped with snowflakes and attached to inside of bottom. The stamped and cut out a snowman and attached to back with foam adhesive pads. Then put in glitter to look like snow. Before applying the top go around the inside of top with small amount of liquid glass. Then place top on bottom. Apply magnet on back and use as a fridge magnet. It looks 3 dimensional. So, cute!
