Tumbled Tiles for Garden Decor

I just bought some tumbled tiles and rather than making coasters, I was thinking of making some garden markers with them, using flower or vegetable stamps with Staz-On ink and then perhaps a name label using the the ink also. Seems that if this procedure works for coasters, it may also be weatherproof for the garden or plant stakes. :rolleyes:

What a clever idea! That would make such a nice gift and maybe even a few "pretties" for yourself! When I bought some tumbled tiles at a tile store owned by a friend of ours, he told me that to make them completely waterproof after stamping to bake them at about 300 degrees for about 20 minutes. He said that when they get in hand-painted or stamped tiles from various artist/interior decorators that is the method they use, only clearly on a mass producing basis.

I was thinking of doing this as well and bought some outdoor mod podge to make them. I'll bake them as well before coating them with the mod podge.
