I just love the idea of the stampin' wheels from SU. But, I'm struggling with ways to use them. I purchased the wheel guide and it gives tips on mitered corners but that's about it. I would like to use them to create backgrounds for my scrap pages and cards but, I can't seem to get it just right. I'll end up overlapping the previous wheel across or I'm too far apart from the previous wheel across. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
If you want the rows to be right next to each other, just lay the wheel guide over the wheeled image so that the edge of the guide lines up with the edge of the image. Then when you wheel the next row, they will be right next to each other. If you want some space in between the rows, you can use the clear lines on the guide for spacing. HTH!

Thanks! This is very helpful. I will give it a try.;)
I have to say that I found it much easier when I unmounted the ones I had, and used them on a block. But then, I don't have the guide, so I would have expected it to be easier with that than just freehand!

I've heard of so many other's unmounting their stamps. I do have better luck with just background stamps than I have the wheels thus far. Just don't know if I have the patience to unmount.
Since I started using the guide, I can't wheel without it, it's a life saver. I love to use wheels on SB pgs and cards all the time. Just used them on bag-o-lopes the other day, had a blast! Hope you get the hang of it and enjoy them as much as I do Jennipher. Just wish I had more colors of ink for them.

I know what you mean about the ink. I'm getting ready to order all the cartridges that are available that I don't have. I think SU should offer them in all the colors like the used to. Especially since the uninked cartridge costs as much as the inked one does.
Hi, just bought my first uninked cartridge from SU. Can you easily change colors or once I ink it is that it? Karen
Good question. It is foam or felt? If it's foam, I bet you could easily rinse it out, let it air dry and re-ink. But, don't know for sure. Hopefully someone does.
Wheels were one of the first things that attracted me to SU many years ago. Here's what I know. Hope it helps.
Wheels are best done standing up.
Always wheel on the diagonal - it hide a lot. (that is unless you're doing a border.
Start at the corner CLOSEST TO YOU. It feels weird, but you can see where you've been & line it up easier.
When it comes to inking or reinking a cartridge, here's what I know:
You can rinse them out & then put another color on them, but what a waste! You're throwing away all that ink & you might want that color again! I try to keep an empty cartridge on hand just in case. I don't always have one, but I'm sure glad when I need one & it's there!
Can you give any additional information about how you unmounted your wheel? This sounds appealing to me. To take it off the wheel and mount in on a regular block and use it like a background stamp. Do you know or does anyone know where I could find wood blocks to mount it on?
I just unmounted my first regular wheel and I'm smiling Here's my step by step photo tutorial on how I used EZ Mount to pull it off!
It's worth it if you don't need more than 6 3/4" (the length of the stamp unraveled)!
GREAT Tutorial!!! with excellent pictures!! Thanks for the tip as I am stampin' wheel challenged and can NEVER get a straight "roll" and since I don't scrapbook, this would be excellent for my card making borders, etc....

Appreciate the help! Bye...Jo
Hi Jo and others . . . . I'm so excited to hear that the tutorial has been helpful. thank you. And thanks to SCS . . . I knew enough to give it a try. The feedback from others with wheels collecting dust has been overwhelming!

YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha...take care...
I use my wheel for my scrapbook pages and have had several customers wanting to purchase them recently. We are all spread out across the country, so I created a tutorial on the basic use and set up of the wheels. You can view it on my blog. It may be too basic for SCS, but very good for a brand new 'wheel user'!
