Default stamping on cookies

Has anyone done any stamping on cookies? I have done it using Fondont but it tasted terrible. I bought it at a craft store. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've done it with the stamps and cookie ink from Micheals. Frost, then put your stamp in a flat dish with the edible ink. It helps to fold up a paper towel in the dish so you can take the ink from there. Hope that helps.

*Forgot to add the edible ink is basically food coloring that they sell specifically for this purpose, they sell it at micheals along with the edible glitter and cake supplies.

you can stamp directly on the cookie with a classic pad from Stampin' Up!. You can eat it because there pads are water based.

I haven't done it yet, my upline told me.

Good Luck,

We used food coloring in a 4-H event we had. I agree that fondant tastes AWFUL!!! Can't believe they use it on so many cakes!! We frosted them and then stamped right on the wet icing. It worked fine.

Default stamping with inks

I read in the demo manual or product manual on the SU site that just because the ink pads are non-toxic does not mean that they are edible. But, it sounds like it won't kill you.

Default Edible Markers

Hi everyone! I purchased a set of markers at Cost Plus World Market that are made with edible ink. They are for decorating cookies and they work really well with stamps. Just pretend they are SU markers and decorate away! Also, make sure you have allowed your icing to dry completely. I'm not at home so I can't tell you the brand, but it was a set of 8 colors.

I have not stamped on "frosted" cookies yet, although I would assume that you would stamp on a buttercream frosting (or something similar) that would harden some before you stamp. I have stamped on sugar cookies before baking, using our classic pads - cute!!

You could frost the cookies with royal icing first (mix a little water into powdered sugar until it's a bit runny. pipe it around the edge of the cookie and then fill it in) and let it set over night until hard and then stamp using the edible markers. I was thinking about this last night. If you made the really substantial sugar cookies then this would be a great thing to do with kids.

My understanding is that the Stampin' Up! Kids' Pads are made with FDA approved dyes and are therefore edible. Anyone know this for sure?

There is also some kind of edible sugary-type wafer that they use to decorate the tops of cakes with (when they scan pictures from the computer, etc.) - after you stamp it, you would place it on the frosted cookie. I have heard of this, but I haven't tried it. I still believe it would be difficult stamping evenly on frosting.

I've only used food colouring products. But stamping, painting on cookies is very easy. There are several ways to do this. The first is using iced (frosted) cookies, the second is stamping on uniced (unfrosted) cooked cookies, the third is stamping on the cookie before you bake it. The last method the colour fades a bit but it still looks nice and make sure the cookie dough is the type that doesn't need to brown to be baked because that turns the colours.

It's very easy to stamp on iced cookies. You can refridgerate the cookies to ensure the icing is hard, stamp on them, then let them warm to room temp. They also sell edible ink cartidges and paper (which dissolves in water) for your printer. You could print all sorts of things for cakes, cupcakes, cookies...

Default Could You Stamp On The cookie

as it came out of the oven? I'm thinking a sugar cookie and while it is still warm, stamp on it with just the stamp and no ink? The snowflake stamps would look very nice!
Has anyone tried that?

I have done this several times with the rolls of sugar cookie dough, and wilton cake decorating colors. Slice the rolls of cookie dough as directed, very chilled works best. Pop them in the freezer for a bit before trying to stamp. Make an inkpad on a paper plate with folded paper towels, slightly damp, and dab on the color. Use the color like a pad, "ink" the stamp, and press onto the cookie. Realize the image will "expand" with baking.

Actually, today on The Carol Duvall show one of her guest demonstrated this technique. Here's the link to the show and I hope this helps.

Default cookie stamping

I used to do this at workshops! I got that slice an bake sugar dough...would slice it and put it in the freezer for a few minutes to firm up. Then I would use food coloring which I would put on a piece of white felt...use a clean stamp...and stamp the image before baking. They come out so cute! I usually do this around Valentine's Day with heart stamps.

Do you mean like a cookie mold effect? I'm guessing here, but I think you'd have to be very fast to get the cookie stamped while it was still hot. Possibly, you'd have to make the cookie thicker than normal. Also, the cookie may crumble if it's pushed on too hard. Why don't you try it and let us know what happens? The worst that can happen is you'd end up with a panfull of cookie crumbs and you could sprinkle that on icecream and such so it wouldn't be wasted.

Hijacking a very old thread to ask if anyone's tried stamping with food coloring (using a tiny uninked pad) on marshmallows?

I've seen the youtube video using rice paper and edible ink, but I don't want to use rice paper. (BTW, if you have a Baskin Robbins or local bakery that puts photos on cakes, they will often print an edible photo (or lots of text or stamp imprints) without having them put it on the cake. You can then put it on regular frosting or fondant.) The rice paper photo is a PITA to work with, though...)

It seems simple enough to use a blocky stamp to stamp on the relatively smooth surface of the marshmallow. Soo-- anyone tried it? TIA
