Default Sizzix Big Shot aperture card

I have a Sizzix Big Shot. I wantto cut an aperture in an A5 card. The problem is that the card when opened is wider that the machine. I can fold the card and put one of the cutting mats inside the card but this means that the fold/crease of the card is distorted.Any ideas how I can do this without ruining the seam of the card? Many thanks.>

Hello, welcome to Splitcoast!

I can't quite tell from your photos but I think you have a side fold going on there - could you solve your problem by making a top fold card base?

You can position the die inside the card instead - tape it to the inside of the card with the cutting side against the card front, then close the card and run it through. I've done gate fold cards that way.

Tried taping the die to the inside of the card and it worked perfectly.

You could make your own card blank by using 2 pieces of card a d adding a seam to one piece to join them together. You could then diecut the front panel before sticking the 2 pieces together.
Sue Wilson and Christina Griffiths used to do this a lot to create their card bases.
