Question about mini comp notebooks?? HELP!!!

Hello everyone. I am wanting to do some mini comp. notebooks & beaded pens for some Christmas gifts. I have the beaded pens done. They look great. My question is on the comp books. How do you cover the binding? I have the marble look mini comp. books (black & white). It looks like they are covered with cardstock, but every time I try this my cardstock gets little creases in it!! Please help me & tell me how you do it. TIA!!

I have been using mulberry paper. I found the regular cardstock to be too thick and difficult to crease in the right spot. I used mono to adhere it. When I did one with mulberry and crystal effects, the mulberry took forever to dry and turned shiny. My gallery has 3 examples if you need a visual. I love doing these. BTW, Mulberry is sort of transparent, but I still like it.

Hey I just saw these in PaperCrafts mag. New to all of this and constantly discovering things! This is like being a 2 year old and seeing a whole new world! LOL

Anyway...pg 20 says to paint the spine with two coats of white and let it dry between coats. Then brush the spine with (they used green) and wipe it off with a paper towel, working small sections at a time. Let some white show through. Hope this helps....now to find time to go into town and buy some of these!!!

I used velveteen paper on mine...it makes a nice finishing touch.

I use SU cardstock. You need to only adhere the glue on the edges (vertically) of the cs binding, NOT the whole cs, otherwise it will not open properly.

December 04 / January 05 got it at the newstand last night in the grocery store. I haven't subscribed to any yet and am trying to decide what I would really want. Don't do as much scrapbooking as I do cards and crafts so looking around for now!

I also use velveteen paper...it really makes it look beautiful! You can it at most scrapping stores. I brought a CS sampler ring with me to help me match SU colors. Good luck!

Hello... I just did some of these for a donation project & they turned out beautifully! I used a spray adhesive for vellum... it covered the papers evenly and will definitely not be coming off!!! I used my SU! cs for the front/back (insides, too - looked really nice for little extra work. I used color coordinating scrapbook paper to cover the spine with (more forgiving when you open & close book). I pre-measured the marbled portion (plus a tad extra - you can see it under the black binding) as well as the spine portion & cut my cs & papers to match, then mounted them by spraying the adhesive directly on the cs. **I highly recommend doing this in a well-ventilated area & spread out newspaper to catch the overspray!! I did mine in the garage w/ doors open!!!) I then went back & mounted the paper on spine. Finished off with ribbon to hide the seams!
I had to do quite a few, so worked inan "assembly line" order (1st the fronts, 2nd the backs, 3rd & 4th the inside covers, then the spine, last the ribbon.) Stamped the cs and they were just gorgeous!! Hated to give them up! Hope this helps. The spray was about $8, but well worth the results - I think one can was enough for 6 full-sized composition books.

I have also done a few of these and I use SU cardstock run thru my xyron. I then crimp where the spine is and it folds around the binding nicely.

I saw some like this in the gallery. I was wondering how the crimped cardstock was attached. Thanks. I will try it & see how it turns out.

The ones I bought are Marble Memo 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 in. They were $.99 each at Target. I also saw them at Walgreen's the other day for the same price. I'm not sure about the detailed instructions. I tried them myself, the only thing I was not sure about was the binding. (Hence, the post). I just cut cardstock the exact measurements as the cover & back of the mini notebook. I think I have the binding down now though. Anymore suggestions are welcome though!!!! Thanks.
