Default Pocket Album Directions

I posted another pocket album the other day and received requests for directions so here goes:

Materials:
3 pages true 12x12 cardstock
2 pages paper/cs cut 8x8
2 6x6 matboard pieces
about 1-2 yards ribbon for tying book closed
lots of pieces of ribbon 6" or so to tie into spine (this holds the book together)
redline tape
more cardstock and embellishments for pages

Directions:
Start with the 12x12 CS. Score the cardstock to create a 6 inch pocket. The easiest way is to score one side at 3 inches and then at 9 1/4 or so (to leave you with a 6x6 space. Secure the over-flapped edge with redline tape. you should have the beginnings of a big pillow box now. Once all three CS pieces are scored and folded, place them on top of each other and fold in half. This is how you create the center spine. Punch four holes at the top and four at the bottom of each sheet on the spine. In the holes you punch you will tie the ribbons on for the spine.

Then cover your matboard, adhere long piece of ribbon (securing only the pieces that touch the front and back cover) and decorate as you desire. In the pockets of the album cut cadstock to fit.

I'm lost! Are the pockets open on the ends (opposite of the spine) and you slide items into it that way, or is the pocket open on the top. I'm a visual person and I just can't picture how this goes together. Also, how are the cover and the back attached to the book? Are they glued onto the first and last pocket? Do I understand correctly that the book is held together through the 4 holes punched through the 3 pieces of 12x12 cardstock? I'd love it if you could post a picture of the book open.

Thanks,
Yvonne

I wrote down the directions, but I don't think I get how to put it together either. Do you have a way you could do step by step directions with pictures along the way? Please? Thanks.

I tried posting a picture from my gallery that shows one of these albums open with the inserts pulled out so you can see more of the instructions in photos except the server must be wacky at the moment because it only let me attach the one picture of the inside pages open. If you check out my gallery you can see more of this style album. I already mailed the latest one off so I don't have it to take more pics. Sorry:(

The inserts pull out through the sides opposite the spine, not the top. I adhere my paper to the matboard usinf redline tape and then the matboard to the first pocket and last usinf more redline. Just remember to add your ribbon in the middle first.

Wow, these are so cool. Thanks for the inspiration! I think you are going to be very busy making these after your Mom's craft show.

Oh, okay, it all makes sense now and my thinking was correct about where the pockets open up. Yay! Thanks for the added photos, that helps a lot! Beautiful albums, can't wait to give them a try.
