Default Please take a look at my dominos...

I'm doing some dominos (my first) for the craft fair I'm going to do, since people say they sell well, and wonder if I'm on the right track with these. Photos are on my blog. http://divastamper.blogspot.com/

I'm having an issue with the alcohol backgrounds - must be doing something wrong in stamping StazOn over it. I tried regular ink on the last one but that doesn't seem right either. Any suggestions? I'd love to hear which (if any!) of these you like and/or think would sell. Thank you!

I can't really tell from the photo what is wrong with the stazon dominos - they look pretty good to me. Is the Stazon reacting differently to the alcohol inks? A possibility would be to spray the alcohol inks, from a distance and lightly, with a fixative (maybe workable fixative?) before stamping with the Stazon. Also, Versafine or Brilliance inks might work. See this link (last paragraph): http://www.altered-book.com/alcohol-ink.html

Good luck!

I wasn't letting it dry long enough. I did some last night and let them dry till this morning, and then it worked fine. I'm always in too much of a hurry. The latest dominos are on my blog again if anyone wants to check them out - I submitted my application for the craft fair today so fingers crossed!

Lori!! Glad you've found your a solution to your domino difficulties because I've never tried anything with dominos. I did however have a close look at them on your blog - and they are gorgeous - her are my fav's - though everyone's taste is so different that I am no expert - but since you are looking for some input - here goes! I looked in the first photo ( went from the top to bottem ) andI love the blue and white domino with the blue flowers - looks like delft pottery. In the second window I LOVED the white Iris ( I think that is an iris - don't know my flowers for certain! ) as well as the pink and purple one with the flowers. In the third window down I loved the poinsettia. However, everyones taste is different - so I can't say what others will like. I think people will also like the Christmas ornament as a pretty holiday necklace. I also think a lot of people may love the key - it's kind of romantic.. PM me if you would consider selling a a couple via SCS! They are very pretty!!!

Lori- your dominoes are beautiful! my favorites are the very first one (the purple one) and the last one in the third picture. I just love those colors! but they are all so nice!
since you mentioned the tile coasters in your blog, and I loved the ones you made- I just posted a thread asking where in the home improvement stores to buy the right tiles for those- I couldnt find what department they were in. can you tell me where you got them?
thanks!

Thank you!

I found the tiles at Home Depot in the tile section - at first I only saw the white porcelain tile but then further down the aisle I found them. They come in several colors. I forget what they were officially called. They came in a box of 9 for $6 and they said Made in Turkey on them. You will recognize them because the surface is uneven. Oh, and FYI, I started out stamping on the front of the tile but then realized that the back is actually flatter so I made that the front of my coaster and that actually worked better. Trial and error!

Your dominos are beautiful! I came here looking for answers while making my Christmas dominos. I made them all with various colors of alcohol ink backgrounds, planning to stamp on them with Christmas themed stamps. They are so pretty that I may just add some dangly beads and leave them plain. However, if I do decide to stamp on them, I have found conflicting information. One place said you couldn't stamp with Stazon on alcohol ink as they were the same type ink and one needed to use opposites. Then other places recommended that Stazon was the only thing to use. I don't have Stazon, so am I safe using something else? I tried gold emboss and that works, so I guess I could emboss all the images, but not sure I have all the colors I want to use. Many suggestions, Anyone?

Help! When I click the link in your post or to your blog, it brings me to a 2014 page and I can't get to more recent posts. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I'd love to see your work!

Since the original post was made in 2007, you'd need to look in her blog archives for that year to find the dominoes, and it's quite likely that there is nothing more recent than 2014 as people often move on to different things or just give up blogging. In fact, I'd say you were lucky to find the blog still there; too often I try to look up an older blog and find it's removed altogether, or by invitation only.

Silly me! I did not even look at the date of the OP! I was wondering if dominoes were making a comeback. Thank you for your reply!
