Default Pergamano/Parchment craft

I've seen some REALLY neat things made using pergamano and I've been looking at the supplies on Ellen Hutson's site trying to decide if I want to invest in it and give it a shot.
I would like to hear from some of you that have tried it. Is it difficult? If you purchased the supplies, do you use them or do you find that they are sitting there gathering dust?

Hi there. Parchment craft is not really that difficult to learn. It takes a bit of time to master the basics though. I go to a parchment class each week and I have just been buying things as I go, you don't really need to buy all the tools initially. You only really need some sheets of vellum and a medium sized embossing tool and a mapping pen and white ink. Oh and some patterns which can be downloaded free from various websites. Instead of using the mapping pen and ink I use a soft white pencil to trace the outlines as I find it easier. There are also DVDs to teach you if you don't have a teacher near you. Try out the Pergamano website as it has lots of lovely patterns. I hope this helps.

Thanks Catherine, that IS very helpful.
I don't know of any classes around here so maybe I will get a DVD.
If I do try it, I'll post my efforts in my gallery.
Thanks again!

I have been doing parchment craft for several years and I love it.
There are no teachers here ( in the USA) so I am self taught.

I put a couple of parchment craft pictures in my gallery

I am a member of two forums devoted to parchment craft.
It is not really difficult. There is a woman in the UK who sells instructional DVD's and they are fabulous. She assumes you never saw a piece of vellum or a mapping pen and you feel like she is sitting with you on her DVD's She teaches so she explains on her DVD most of the question that are asked by newbies
Her name is "Christine Coleman-- just Google it.
If you want more info just let me know

One more thing
Pergamano is the brand name for a line of tools and patterns.
There are two brands of tools and equipment. Pergamano and
PCA ( Parchment Craft Australia.
I have USA sources to buy both brands.
If you google "Pergamano" you will find a gazillion web sites
If any one wants to start parchment craft I would suggest buying a starter kit to see if you like it. Pergamano sells one and I am sure Ellen Hutson has it or can get it.
