new technique for pastels!
i think i discovered a new way to use my pastels today. i was upset because i don't have lavendar lace ink and wanted to stamp the sentiment for my card in it. so i thought i would try using versamark and my pastels....i inked my stamp with versamark and then used a sponge on the pastel. i tapped the sponge onto the versamarked stamp and huffed on it then stamped my image and it looks wonderful, no mess like poppin pastles leaves on light CS
here is my card the sentiment is stamped in the manner described above!

Brenda - very cool! This way, you don't get the chalky outline on the cardstock. TFS!
PS-Congrats on WW!

Congratulations on the weight loss and the new technique. I'm anxious to try it. Maybe you could call it pastel-mark. Just an idea. Isn't it great that God gave us such creative minds?

nope but it was just a birthday card, i don't think it will be handled that much...??? may be an idea... I would think treating it the same was as you would poppin pastels would be a good idea, but then again i don't 'set' any of my projects.

Right on sista! That looks beautiful. I am going to try it out for myself! If I can get it to work, I'll start telling my customers about it because this could really open up some color options for them!

Especially for people who don't like dirtying up their inkpads, KWIM? I don't like mixing the colors of my inkpads, but if you can get the same effect with pastels, then hey, why not.

Thanks for sharing this idea...the card is quite cute. Did you spray any sort of fixative on the card to seal the pastels?
Thanks,

Bravo! Way to go... I am lovin' the idea of doing this but let me ask...do you need to huff on it? Versamark is stickier than the dye based inks...

I can't wait for the tutorial, but I also would like to teach your technique at a pastels class I'll be having at the end of this month. I have to post a sample on my blog tonight, and since a permanent name has not been found yet, I was going to call is "direct to stamp pastels". I know it's not necessarily the shortest title, but it seems pretty descriptive. I thought i would post that here in case you still were thinking about what to call this technique and mike like this option. If you have named it something else, would you please let me know -- maybe PM me -- so that i can use the right name when i talk about it? Thanks!
This is a fantastic technique, by the way!
