Okay. I just want to understand this before I open them. You open the bottom with a "hand crank type" old fashioned can opener? And the after cleaning it out you glue the thing back into the bottom with Crystal effects?
The safety can opener opens the can by cutting around the outside edge of the can...the blade is horizontal. This is different from the normal can openers with the blade going vertically and it cuts into the top part of the can lid, just inside the rim.
There are no jagged edges with this can opener. The whole lid comes off it does not get cut. This is what I understand but I have never done this because I can't find this type of canopener!!!!

you buy the fruit cans with the pop top.. open and empty contents from bottom.. then fill with candy.. jewlery.. a gift card.. etc.. glue bottom on.. decorate and give to recipient.
in order to open..t hey must pop the top.. then if they are not stampers .. they think you are ingenious for thinking this up.. kudos to you!!!!
I got my safety can opener at Target for around $10 and I love it! After you open the can, dump the fruit out and eat it, then rinse out the can, let it dry and you're good to go!! I filled mine with Hershey Kisses.

Walmart also has the safety can openers for $8. My kids are going to be eating lots of fruit. I am planning a SAB workshop in Jan so they better get eating!
Woo Hoooo Thanks Auntielaurie! I got mine at WalMart too you were right and even though I have this really small Walmart nearby they had it!!!! I went to a gourmet store in the Mall first and they had one for $19.99 and one for $14.99 but because of your post I held out for Wally World! You have saved me mega bucks. And thanks to all of you because I would not have understood that this is not your regular hand crank can opener. Your descirption was perfect! SCS comes through again!

WOW! You ladies are AMAZING!!
This is the greatest idea! I always get my dad peanuts and 'spice them up' and give them to him for Christmas. What is used to do was wrap wrapping paper around it.. now I can stamp on something else!
