Default Need Help With Alcohol Ink Technique

Hi Ladies,

I'm really anxious to try the Wednesday technique posted by Cindy Lyles using the alcohol ink background.

I went today to Hobby Lobby and Joann's and was able to find everything BUT the Mixative. Can someone tell me exactly what this is and if it is offered by another company perhaps called something else? Neither of the stores I went to offered it by Adirondack. Can I use just regular household rubbing alcohol?

I really don't want to have to order it online and have to wait :p I'd like to try the technique this weekend. Any help, idea's or suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA ladies, you are awesome.

Try alcohol. I think that the mixative is pretty much mostly alcohol. HTH!

The metallic mixatives come two to a pack. They are: gold/silver and pearl/copper and are made by Ranger.

I personally use a gold or silver leaf pen and just dot it on the felt pad when I want the metallic look. I never can find the Ranger stuff at my stores, they are always out of it.HTH

Does this mean if you don't want a metallic look, you can eliminate the mixative?

Thank you.

Yes. It is an option, just like another color.
