I am so excited, and I have to share something with you all!!! I suppose somebody will tell me that this has already been discovered a hundred years ago, and I need to get with the times. Still, since I have never seen it anywhere, I am going to put it here just in case. Who knows? Maybe I actually discovered something unique.
I was working on my son's birthday card yesterday, and the card has bugs on it. So I stamped a sentiment inside that said, "Bugs and Kisses". Here is where it gets exciting...... I do NOT have a kiss or lip stamp. I thought about all the times when I kissed my husband with lipstick on and it made a print on his cheek. I knew I could "kiss" the cardstock and get a nice print, but I knew it would smear and wreck his card. So....I put some bright red lipstick on, kissed the card and made a really nice imprint of my smooch, then embossed it with clear embossing powder! It worked perfectly and sealed in the lipstick so it wouldn't smear at all. It was beautiful! Maybe I can post a picture later.
I am so stinkin' excited that I just had to share. How much more personal can it get than to give somebody a real kiss on paper?! Unless you can give them a real kiss, that is!
Hope somebody else will try this....it really did turn out cute!
Mary Kay consultants use this to make sample sheets of their lipstick, so it has been around a while! But it's still a cool idea...but I don't wear lipstick, so I've never done it.
LOL, I've done that with my husband's cards for years now. I think I did a valentine swap with it years ago, too. Embossing is about the only way to keep it from smearing.
OK, so now....why would your idea be any less "innovative" or "cool" if you are not the first to think of it? You still thought of it without input from anywhere else, didn't you? It IS a fun idea, lol...and you've exposed it to a lot of folks that hadn't ever heard of it. TFS!

Thanks for the kind words. I was a bit bummed when I read the post that I wasn't the original inventor. Thought I had finally come up with something great. Oh well, maybe someday!
New to me too! Very clever idea! Definitely something I will do maybe for my family's cards!! Thanks for sharing it.
And for what it's worth, I swearI coined the term PB&J... lol. It may have been around since peanut butter was invented, but I still think I made it up!

off topic BUT...
i was floored when i made reference to the PB&J and of all people...
You can kiss VersaMark ink, and emboss in any color red too. Warning...too much kissing of VersaMark gets you chapped lips! But I did get the perfect "lips" for dh's card!

Betsy, you are the sweetest thing! And you are right. Even though it is not new (it is to me), she thought of it on her own. So it does make it new! I love your responses in the threads....you always have such good advice!

Great idea! I just saw a card done with DP that was all lip images (I think it was a Michaels DP) Now I don't need to make a trip to Mikes - I can just go into my stamp room and get fresh with my paper!!;)
I'm gonna go give some paper the "lip service" it deserves!
Thanks for giving us this great idea
