VELLUM

TECHNIQUES & TIPS
• Using a white ink pad stamp randomly all over Vellum to make your own printed vellum.
• Stamp and color your image onto vellum, flip vellum over when attaching to card for a mirror image of stamp.
• Stamp on vellum with pigment ink, emboss it and then turn the vellum over and color with markers. (Makes a great stained glass look)
• Stamp image on the front side of vellum, color on the backside with markers to get a softer look.
• Use vellum as a see through pocket.
• Use vellum to soften up "loud" patterned or bright paper by layering the vellum over the patterned paper.
• Rub a stylus on the back side of the vellum. This makes the vellum pop up. It is great for trees, seashells, candles, etc
• Dry emboss, which turns white, and then either color with markers on the back or just leave the design. If you don't have brass templates, you can stamp an image in black on a white piece of paper, place the vellum over it on top of a mouse pad and trace with a stylus. Then turn it over for the raised image
• Overlap different areas of the card- you get the most out of using vellum this way.
• Emboss a stamped image with black embossing powder, and then fill in the areas with Pearl Ex-Press colors. (You can't color outside the lines with this technique!)
• Use Brilliance ink pads over the top of vellum. Even inking a torn edge of vellum with a pearlescent ink adds a wonderfully elegant sparkle!
• Print wording on vellum from the computer and attach to your card.
• Use a piece of vellum the same size as your card and fold it the same as the card so that it covers the front & the back completely, then attach it with a thin line of glue (or vellum tape) on the back side near the fold. Then tie some fibers or ribbon around the fold of the card.
• Use your Rollagraph (regular and jumbo) on vellum you can use them with the embossing ink, white ink for a very subtle look, or get an empty cartridge and put any of our inks in it to make great embossed vellum.
• Place Vellum over a blurry picture to make picture clearer
Place Vellum over a picture to soften the look. Cut out a window over the main focus of the picture for it to stand out.

• Brayer your Favorite Ink color over vellum to make colored vellum paper.
• Vellum weaving. Make a window card . . . use a square punch if you'd like to speed up the process. Then fill the window with vellum weaving. Use 1/2 inch strips of vellum combined with vellum that has been dyed with the brayer. Also try weaving card stock and patterned papers with the vellum. Or stamp on the vellum first and then cut it into strips and weave. You can also try stamping the vellum after you've woven it. There are all kinds of choices.
• Wrinkled Wet Vellum Technique. Moisten a card stock sheet of vellum under running water or with a water bottle. Crumple it into a tight ball, then unfold it carefully and smooth it out. Rub a dye-based inkpad lightly over the vellum There's no need to apply pressure, the ink should color just the peaks of the folds. Dip a sponge in a lighter colored inkpad (or two), then dab it onto the vellum. Using an iron at heat setting 4, iron the vellum until it's dry and relatively smooth. It will still have texture. Your textured vellum is ready to use! Use it as a background or punch, tear or cut it into embellishment shapes. The texture and color makes the vellum opaque enough that almost any adhesive can be used without it showing through. Once you’ve tried this with wet vellum, follow the same process but this time try crumbling dry vellum. Looks pretty with Spectrum pads. Great background for skeleton leaves.

WAYS TO ATTACH VELLUM:

• Eyelets
• Vellum tape
• Ribbon
• Wrap the edges around to the back side of the card stock and adhere there
• Brads
• Small bits of adhesive layered underneath solid or patterned cardstock, overlaying the vellum
• Corner slot punch
• Spray adhesive by Krylon™
• Glue dots
• Xyron
• Fold one of the sides under and glue it under a layer then you will never see the glue
• Sewing or Stitching
• Spiral Clips

3M vellum tape
• The tape fits perfectly in TAC™ GWP plastic box! It’s well protected and can get banged around with out harm.

Thanks for sharing all of your ideas. I can't wait to try some. I especially like all of the ideas for attaching the vellum. I hate when the glue shows through.
