Yikes, this is my first time posting here, so hope this comes out right!! Anyway, I would like to show my club gals tomorrow! the technique of stamping on dryer sheets. Are the dryer sheets used? What type of ink do you use? Do you just stamp on them, or are there additional steps? Thanks for your help! This is a great website!
I don't stamp on the dryer sheets. I stamp on cardstock and then spray it with spray adhesive and then lay the dryer sheet over top of it. And yes they are used. I actually throw them in a load of laundry after they've been used just to be sure they're clean. I may be a nutcase but I also stack them up and iron them gently LOL.
I suppose you could stamp on dryer sheets though. I know you can color them with reinkers in a ziploc and after they're dry use them like mulberry paper too.
I made a card using the dryer sheet technique for my Alaskan Cruise Swaps. I stamped on the cardstock, ran it through my Xyron (stamped side down) and layed a used dryer sheet over top of it. Then you just trim the edges of the dryer sheet and layer as usual. It is a gorgeous effect! You can also use a glue stick or spray adhesive as Cristal mentioned.
I have used a brayer and inked my dryer sheets...they turn out like a piece of mulberry paper. The dryer sheet has to be well used before doing this though....there is a picture in my gallery

this may sound stupid, but does the type of dryer sheet make a difference? I used downy, and they are very thick, and almost fluffy or pill-y after going through the dryer...would a cheap dryer sheet work better? Not so much loft to it?? Kerilou
I use Bounce dryer sheets and they work really well. I actually put mine through the dryer 2-3 times before I use them. I have a whole stack of them and would send you some if you want - I'm sending them out to two other people today! Ha Ha! Now that there's a legitimate use for them, I hate to throw them away, but I can't use all of the ones I keep. Do you want some? PM me your regular address, and out they go today!
Thank you Cristal and Robin for sharing your Dryer Sheet Technique! I loved it and was so excited it came out perfect my first try! Your detailed advice really helped! Here's my Bounce Christmas Card! lol Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I did some halloween treat bags using this technique. They are in my gallery, just click the link on bottom of this post!! But I found that use the dryer sheet many... many... many times. It seems to work better that way!
Wow! All the cards are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!! I just did laundry today and used liquid softener. :? I guess that I am going to have to start using the sheets again!!!!!!!! I can't wait to try this!!!!!!
I did one as well for my 10 for $10 last night. After everything was done I rubbed glitter over the dryer sheet. It will stick whereever the holes are big enough in the dryer sheet to let it through. The scan doesn't show it very well. Just image sparkles all over the image. Everyone was truly wowed by this.
I've done this and stamped right on the dryer sheet.
I stamped Frosty & "Happy Holidays" on US White cardstock then over top I layered a dryer sheet that I'd stamped snowflakes over. I have this sample it my gallery, but can't for the life of me figure out how to make a link!
I did buy the generic sheets for this. They're thin & worked well. Also make sure they're used. It makes them softer & smells great too!
Well another thing to collect....and I'll even get something done to boot! This is sounding great! Recycling another object...yahoo! Thanks to all who figure out all this stuff.
