Hi! I have no idea where to post this thread. I'm looking for a pic of the card Jen Bailey demoed at Convention that used the Faux Cracked Glass technique. It was western and awesome!
I have tried this and this is how I was told to do it. cover your image with UTEE several times so it is nice and thick, then let cool. When it is cooled, bend the CS so that the UTEE cracks. Rub some kind of ink over the top with a sponge or dauber. You don't need much. The ink will stay in the cracks and produce the antiqued look that you're going for. Don't forget to wipe off the excess ink so you have a clear image! ;)
I knew I had seen this somewhere - just took me a while to find it....
it's in the Resources section and is called 'Cracked Glass Technique' sorry can't seem to post the URL
I seem to remember that she stamped the weathered BG stamp on top. I think that I took pictures, but haven't had time to look at them (or to look at my notes).

Subscribing to this thread to see if someone finds a link to how to do faux cracked glass. I love the look of the actual cracked glass technique but it is so time consuming. I love faux anything.
I'm cracked glass challenged. I tried and tried and finally did a faux cracked glass that just had the cracks stamped on the image then embossed. Here it is:

Thanks for the post. I am going to give your faux cracked glass technique a try. I left you a comment on your card too. It is a really great card. You are so generous to share the technique with us.

I read on a UK web site that at the cooling stage they put it in the freezer for a couple of minutes and after removing bent the image to crackle. However, I have not personally tried this technique and couldn't say if it works or not.
I found my notes from Convention on how she did the Faux Cracked Glass:
Stamp desired image (she used Bronc Buster)
Pat versamark all over entire piece of cardstock
Pour on Glassy Glaze EP, tap off excess
Heat emboss
Repeat again for 2nd layer
Ink up Weathered background stamp with Close to Cocoa ink
Press down onto hot layer
For the past few days I have been going back to all the blogs I have visited trying to find information on the faux cracked glass technique. It wasn't until I came here and saw this thread that I realized that I had not read about this on a blog. I had seen the demo for this at convention. Thank you so much for posting the picture and directions. Now I can finally quit looking and start stamping!!!
