dye micro beads
I want to use my reinkers to dye the clear microbeads to a specific color. I've received trades done like this, so I know it is possible. I tried a "test batch" and it came out lovely. However, what I don't know, is how long does it take them to dry? They are kinda wet and clumpy right now (I added additional beads to thin them out a little to help with this) but I don't know how long to wait before attempting to use them. Do I need to heat them?
I did a search but didn't find anything relevant. If you know of an existing thread, please direct me! I'd love to finish these trades tonight if possible.

I've never done it, but I'll bet that if they get any moisture on them after they dry, they will run (I assume you are using dye ink). So you might want to use them for the inside of a shaker or something "covered".

I'm gluing them on with crystal effects; I could probably put another coat on top to make sure they don't bleed. I live in humid Florida but hadn't thought of the possibility of the ink running off...

I hate to give up one of my favorite secrets, but since you asked...I use Stazon ink to dye my microbeads. Works great! Dries fast! Custom colors! --enough rhapsody, here's how I do it:
Method 1: For just a few beads, I press the clear cover of the pad down on to the pad, so there's a little of ink pooled on it. Sprinkle my beads on carefully, stir them around with a strip of cardstock, scrape them up with the cardstock & let dry.
Method 2: For many beads, I put the beads in a small zip bag, add a drop of Stazon refill, seal the bag and massage the beads around. When all the beads are covered, I open the bag & the beads dry within minutes.
Hope this helps!

bummer, for some reason I never got emailed for those last few posts. ah well, I just covered them in CE. I liked the way it made the texture, besides containing the color, so it worked ok for this card. will try stazon if I do this again... that totally makes sense. although it wouldn't have matched the color I was looking for.
