Hi All -
I've got several of the CB Embossing folders, and would like to know if you have ideas for using them, other than simple embossing of the plain cardstock.
I saw one example in the gallery that mentioned reverse embossing of the folder -- inking the folder itself and then embossing? Is there a link to the technique on this? Also any other ideas or samples are appreciated!!!
Thanks!!!

You can emboss lightweight chipboard in them for embellies. I made the hearts on this card by cutting the shapes out of the card from the back of a note pad and then embossing.
Heavy acetate looks great. The embossing puts enough stress on it that the embossed bits go slightly white in places. It does come out a bit warped, I found, but eyelets or brads will attach it down firmly. Light acetate as for use in copiers is too light to really work.
Look up embossed shimmer as a keyword in the TLC challenge section, it was a challenge a while back. And as a lot of people didn't have Lumiere paint, there were a lot of substitutions which worked well.
I've been working my way through the ideas on Mel Stampz list of 100 + ideas (http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2008/0...n-bitten.html). My favorites so far are embossing using tinfoil (or a cut up pop can) as it looks like pressed tin - very striking. I also love mixing my patterns using the partial embossing method. My blog has samples of a few of the techniques I've tried so far.

Great thread! Thanks for asking this. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Cuttlebug. I use it ALL the time and love to learn new and different ways to use it. Awesome! :p
Couple more really great places:
Jay at Indigo Inklings (she really HAS done it all! lol)
and The Cuttlebug Spot which is a fairly new challenge blog.
Enjoy!

This has not worked with my brayer. Are they using a special one?
You've probably already figured out how to do this, but I'm just now getting the chance to read the old posts. It could be that you're using a hard rubber brayer instead of a soft one.
This may have been mentioned already, but here's one. I got a bunch of small lunch bags at Target from their grocery section by the paper plates. They come in white, kraft, red and blue. Very inexpensive, about $2 for 40.
They make darling gift bags when embossed with the CB. You have to use the folder crosswise on the bag, and run it through twice. I used the snowflake folder on red and white for darling Christmas sacks.
Other folders work well for all occasion bags, too.

Try coloring the aluminum from cans with alcohol based inks (Tim Holtz demos for Ranger, who makes alcohol inks sold at chain craft stores or online)
You can also "white-wash" an embossed design with any color acryllic paint and wipe it right off with a rag, leaving color in the indentions.
SU now has some cool embossing folders I use in my SU Big Shot.
I put the plastic packaging from the cuttlebug folder through the cuttlebug and embossed it with the Stampin' Up Snowflake Folder - Here's my card: Recycled Let it Snow Stella. I got the idea from this: Tim Holtz Christmas tag . It was easy and I really liked the result!

I love my CB. I emboss left over paper and cardstock and then use various punches. Punched flowers and butterflies look great when they have been embossed. You can lightly rub distress ink over the top using a sponge dauber.
I'm working on things for a swap- making backgrounds. I've been using both A2 and small embossing folders, embossing white CS, then rubbing with sponge daubers, both for highlights and to color the page- then covering the whole page with Versamark and clear embossing powder, and heat embossing. On some, I even do the Versamark & clear powder a second time and heat again, for a thick clear glossy surface. These are turning out really cool!
