Last Christmas I made a bunch of "washer necklaces" using scrapbook paper. I would think the same process would work for a stamped image. Here is the tutorial I used:

Question

Hi. What a great idea!! It never ceases to amaze me about how people are so creative. : )

Just wondering ... I'm just starting to get into chunky books, do you think the covered washers would work somehow to attach and hang off the pages? Not every page of course but just was wondering if you think it'd work or would the washer be too heavy for something like this? Meaning, would it be too heavy to hang from chipboard as a hanging accent?

Thanks for any help with this!

I think that might look really cool. You can check out some of the washers at Home Depot or Lowes. Pick them up, see what you think about the weight.

They are really not too heavy. I used silk cord for the necklaces I made as gifts. Everyone loved them and they were super simple to make.

See my Post #2 above. I think if you look at the tutorial, you can use that process for your stamped image.

I would suggest making a sample, with the same ink/paper/coloring medium that you would use, and try it out. I'm guessing different materials may react differently.
Likewise, try both the modge podge & crystal effects to see if they behave differently.

Modge Podge is great stuff, but be aware that when used as a sealer it will never entirely dry, ever. I have used it extensively in collage work, both as a glue and a sealer.

Used as a sealer, it will feel dry to the touch, but if you put something on top of it, that thing can stick and pull some of the sealer and what's underneath it away. I have experienced this with pieces that were leaning up against each other in my studio for a period of time. This may not matter to you, depending on what you are using it on.

I'm not sure it will work under Diamond Glaze, the Glaze may not like going over it, but I'm not sure, never having tried it. From what you describe as your project, the glaze itself might be enough anyway. Experiment with both on a scrap piece first. Good luck, it sounds like a fun project!

You are so welcome, Scarlett. Did you make some of the washers for your books? If so, how did they turn out?

Nope, didn't make any yet ... I'm still in the informational stage as of yet. Just getting started and all kinds of ideas come to me and that's when I do research [or ask questions] to see if they'd be possible. You know, for when I actually do get around to doing some. lol

I get it - I'm a big "researcher" too.

I have Mod Podged over ink and learned it needs to be permanent. If unsure test it.

!
I love to Mod Podge everything and I'm going to second this. Its not that it won't dry, its just not waterproof. They have Outdoor MP and Hard Coat but I think its simpler to seal it when your done. Especially anything thats going to be used or handled a lot. I usually wait a few days after i'm finished and then give my item coats of clear acrylic.
