Altered Clipboard - My Confusion Mounts!
I was just getting ready to go buy clipboards then yesterday's WI came out... The tutorial makes it sound really easy. The only reason I didn't buy Mod Podge the other night was because I didn't realize before I got there that are several different finishes. I wanted to come home and look at the tutorial again to see which one to get.
The added details that were in yesterday's newsletter make it sound incredibly complicated. Not to mention a lot of additional supplies.
All I really want to know is are all of the extra steps really necessary? I want them to turn out right as I will be making them for office gifts. If I need to figure out what gesso, gel medium, acrylic coating and water base clear varnish are and where to get them I will. I'm thinking if all of that is needed tho, I might just do paper and die cuts and no stamping...
Any advice is welcome... This is what happens when you start perusing the boards and seeing all the fun stuff to make beyond cards...
Thank you!

That's funny! When I posted some *chip*board paperclips, I accidentally put them under the *clip*boards section, lol

Thanks for the links about chipboard, even though I was not expecting to find that info in this post!

I'm not quite sure what the tutorial said but I can tell you how i've made them.
Real simple really, and they have held up real good.
I use Modge Podge for PAPER..really, that's what it says on the bottle.
I simply cut the paper to fit my clipboard and then put the modge podge on the paper (not the board) and press it down and then run over it with a rubber brayer to seal out any air bubbles. I let it dry and then add any paper embellishments and then I add a thin coat of Modge Podge for paper over it, to seal it! I add 3-D items such as thicker ribbon or buttons or primas, after. Those are NOT sealed, but really, they seem to hold up.
Here is a pic of one I made for my Momm (side note, Xango is her business, that is what the words mean)

I know Xango, that's cute!
Which Modge Podge finish did you use? I saw mat, glossy and satin when I went looking for it.
Thank you for your help!
p.s. the tutorial can be found here http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/.../clipboard.php

When I saw the name Xango, I had to check it out. Our friends in Hawaii (she's from Laos) were just telling us about Mangosteen juice. And how good it is for you. SUPER job on the colors! They match the website perfectly!

Hope that helps
You've heard of Xango? How cool is that! Okay, back to the regular scheduled programming

thanks! I was flustered as to what to make the woman who has everything. Figured she could use the clipboard and the comp book at all the meetings and conventions she attends!
