Default help needed with beaded pens

Thought I'd try another subject line..
Hi all,
I was wondering, I have seen some examples on here and heard talk of these. Are the microbeads on the outside? and could you just use a regular pen?. Would there be a tutorial somewhere? could someone give me directions.
Thanks,
Sarah

There's a couple of different ways of doing these but they both require Terrifically Tacky Tape. This is that red double sided tape you see at Michael's. It's really the only tape that I've heard holds well enough.

Okay, you can use ANY pen, but if you want to get the cap back on after you do this, I hear people like the Pentel RSVP pens. I've done them with cheapie RoseArt pens and they work fine, but you can't put the cap back on once you do the beads.

If you are doing clear microbeads, you need some sticker paper like SU! sells. This you would stamp and adhere to your pen. Then you would wrap the TT tape around the pen and roll in the clear microbeads.

If you are doing colors, you can just put the tape on the pen and roll in the micro beads. For striped effects, you can get the 1/4" wide or the 1/2" wide tape and wrap once in a barber pole fashion leaving a gap the same width as the tape, then wrap again in between the first wrapping. Take off the first wrapping, roll in one color of beads, then take off the second wrap and roll in a different color. You can do other stripes by wrapping stripes horizontally or vertically.

Once you've got your beads on, roll the pen firmly on a table to set the beads in the tape. Some folks continue by clear embossing over the beads; rolling the pen in embossing ink or versamark, then embossing to keep the beads in place.

HTH!

Has anyone had a problem with the beads coming off after you start writing with it? I was curious because I write pretty hard, and I dont want to make a bunch up, and have them mess up.

Thanks
