Default comp journals

I hope this isn't a silly question, but when you are decorating your compostion books do you glue the paper to the binding? How does it open if it is glued? Same with the jr legal pads, so you have a cover but does it bend so you can open it?
Please help me.

I don't ever cover the binding. I cover the front and back of the comp books seperately just up to the binding. If I don't like the look of the binding on the cover, I will cover where it and the paper meet with ribbon.

I have covered the binding by sewing a piece of paper to both the front and back. Hope that makes any sense. If you happen to have the Oct. Papercrafts, look in there as they used the same technique.

Here's a link to additional instructions for making comp. books. These instructions are awesome by the way. HTH!
