Red face Squares on cards

Here is dumb question number one trillion: I love the sketches and cards that have squares as small layers(with images). I am so totally math challenged that I would like to know what size do you usually make them, especially if you use two per front? Do you use a square punch? I know you must wonder about my stamping. Actually it is okay Hope this isn't too confusing. TIA

Wink squares

This is what I do. I like you am totally math challanged. I just cut the first square 4x4 (for example) then I add a 1/4 inch to each so the next one (behind) is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4. That gives an 8th of an inch all around. You could do it more depending on taste. I hope that helps.
Shelley

Thanks for the help. I should try that on the small squares too. I liked the challenge where there are two small squares either side by side or overlapping.

I am totally square and rectangle challenged so here is what I did. I got a sheet of plastic canvas and I make templates for myself.
I cut one square or rectangle and then for layers I add two or more plastic canvas squares.
I keep them in an empty stamp case and I use them all the time.
