What size???
 

What is your favorite size to make your cards? I'm just starting to make cards, and always make them half-fold...I was just wondering what size everyone else uses. Thank you in advance!!;)

A friend who makes many, many cards told me she always uses half-fold and makes at least four of her design, or groups of four. It really saves paper and she always has a card to send or sell. So I followed her advice and it works for me and I probably will never catch up to the number of truly beautiful she makes.

Does half-fold mean 4-1/4 x 5-1/2? If so, that is my go-to size. I usually make multiples and this size works very well.

Every once in a while, I make a 5 x 7 card for one of my grandchildren. It seems like kids like a larger card.

Also the A2 size is easy to find envelopes for. You can get invitation size envies at most office supply stores.

But, now that I have the new WeRMemory Keepers Envelope Punch, I can make other size envelopes easily. So I may branch out and make other sizes more often.

Also, I try to keep my postage costs down, and the A2 usually only needs one stamp, unless I've layered it up with bumpy embellishments!

No, I usually just fold a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. I like your size better!! Thank you Bugga!!

Cally, here is a tip for making the A2 size. I take a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock and score it at 4-1/4" right down the middle. Then I cut the piece in half at 5-1/2. Then you can fold the pieces and have 2 of the A2 size cards. I've found it works better to score first, and then cut in half.

I almost always make A2 size cards. If I need a larger area because of the design or embellishments I'm using, I'll go to a 5 x 7.

Oh my Ladies thank you soooo much!!! I just spent the morning going through my huge scrap bin and cut most of it into the A2 size paper. I couldn't believe I had all that paper that probably would never have been used. THANK YOU!!!

I usually make A2 cards (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) because the envelopes are easier to find. I also tend to buy 12 x 12 card stock, cut it at 8 1/2, turn ninety degrees and cut at 11 inches before cutting the remainder in half for two cards. I like to have the extra matching card stock to mat images. I store the extra card stock in pocket folders by color and keep them in a file drawer.

I seldom make square cards because they cost more to mail. I understand they can be put in a regular envelope with filler. I just avoid the hassle.

I rarely (if ever) make a card with colored cardstock. I make my card bases from 8-1/2 x 11 white cardstock that I buy at Sams. Then I always make "card fronts" and attach them to the base. For this reason, I don't cut my 12 x 12 cardstock until I actually make a card, whether it is a solid color or a pattern.
