Smile how do you make it look like water?

I've been practicing the "mirror" image with the acetate. After I am done with the mirror look....they say to make it look like its glistening on the water. Well, I can't seem to get that part right. Some say...dab some color around your image (mainly blue - since water is that color)...well, its easier said than done. Does anyone have an easy way for your image to look like water? I have these little stipple brushes that I'm dabbing little color here and there...but I can't seem to get it. Does it take practice? I've looked up pics in the gallery on reflection cards....they all look so nice...just can't seem to get that water part going....
Thanks

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I will brayer on part of a rainbow pad. I use two colors, then turn the paper around and brayer the colors again. Here is an example: Lovely reflections by stamper1996 at Splitcoaststampers

I'm not sure how well it glistened, but after I added layers of color, I added touches with a white gel pen for breaks in the water. It was my first attempt at a reflection card too. Don't work too hard at it, since it is supposed to be just an interpretation of the real thing.
For the blues I used a sponge...I don't have a stipple brush and liked that a sponge let me control where the ink went. I could also change the pressure I was using to apply the ink, whether it was more of a sweeping motion, or a dabbing or scrubbing motion. Warning though, I had blue fingertips for a couple of days. I haven't tried a brayer yet...still getting used to how that distributes ink...I will have to try it out.
Here's a link to my card if you want to see how I tried it:

Good luck! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Michelle Zindorf does amazing scenery cards with brayer and sponges and for finishing touches, a gel pen. Have a look at her tutorials to get an idea of how she does it. Here is a link to them: Blogs at Splitcoaststampers

Just directing you there since there is no reason to reinvent the wheel. Her work is simply . . . inspiring!

Wow! I checked out that site, and it was astounding how she can make things blend, and come to "life".

Magic happened just now and I finally got to Zindorf's site. She's so good----and her tutorials are so explicit! What an inspiration!
