I know there is an elmers glue technique and it makes an awesome marblely background - I can't find it in my file. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

The only one I can think of is Heated Pearls. Here is the link, it is found in the resources section:

I have never done the heated pearls technique - it looks sort of messy -- but the results are really fabulous.

You can also use it for

Faux Silk

Although that technique is a lot less messy if you use your xyron machine instead of the liquid glue.

Pearl-ex is easily available at hobby lobby and most scrapbooking stores, also online and on ebay. Since it isn't made by Stampin Up, it's not going to disappear when they no longer put it in the catalog. It's tool cool to work with, especially with versamark on black paper!!

Thanks for this suggestion. I've seen it before and been meaning to try it but haven't gotten around to it. I just made a card and WOW -- this effect is awesome!! I'll be uploading after I get it glued together but I wanted to post to say thanks for the idea!!

Yeah, it's kinda magic when the invisible design POPS out at you when you dust on the Pearl Ex! About buying Pearl Ex- it's a great way to use Hobby Lobby's every-other week or so 40% off coupon! And I have made some monster buys on Ebay- look for lots, it's the cheapest way to go. I can't wait to try the glue technique. I'm learning so much I didn't know. By the way, has anyone besides me fallen in love with Xerox's pearlized paper? It comes in Ivory & Silver, and at 50 sheets for under $9 at Office Depot, it's not expensive. It's gorgeous! I've been using the Ivory when I need to use the printer for sentiments to put inside my cards, and it's so elegant looking. I only wish they would make it in gold. Maybe I ought to suggest it to them? I've stamped on it, too, and it works nicely. Just found the silver yesterday, so I haven't used that yet.
