Default Question about poppin' pastels

I just tried this technique for the first time this morning... The chalk colors do pop up on white paper when using versamark ink, but I don't like the residue chalk that is left around the stamped images like a 'shadow' is that how it is supposed to be, or is it supposed to be clean and only shown on the stamped image? Help!

I love this technique. I tried it for the first time when preparing for my Stamper's 10 session last month. I used daubers to apply the pastels to the image. I also used a fairly substantial image (Daisy - 2004-05 SU! Caddy). Sometimes I did get a "shadow" around the image but I used the eraser that comes with the Pastels and those troublesome shadows disappeared. Hope that works for you.

That's a good idea! I've been having the same problem!

Thanks!

I do believe the "aura" effect is part of the technique. I suppose if it really bothers you an eraser would take care of it! :p

The chalk shadow is part of the technique. I think it looks soft and pretty. If you'd like to minimize it you can do one of the following:

* Apply the chalk with a cotton ball or large soft paintbrush.
* If you use a light touch with the chalk you can emboss over it with an ultra fine clear powder. I recommend Transcendence EP (TAC sells it). Then you can erase around the images with a chalk eraser.

I like how it looks if you dab with a cotton ball. The chalk pretty much stays on the Versamark. I don't like how the chalks look if it's applied with a Q-tip. I find the "effect" messy looking.
