Smile Criss Cross card question?

I'm going to try to make one of these and reading thru the tutuorial and I'm a little confused over one part. It tells you to cut 2 pieces of cardstock at
41/4" by 11", cut and score, then tape the 2 pieces together. This is the part I'm not getting. Why do you need to cut 2 pieces and tape them together? Isn't 1 piece scored and folded thick enough, or am I just missing something? Why do you need 2 pieces?

If someone here can explain this please I would greatly appreciate this.

Thanks, Anne

Default re: criss cross card

Hi
An 11" piece of paper won't cross over itself twice and still be 5 1/2 inches wide. The way that the tutorial has you do it will give you nice, folded edges on both sides, but wastes paper, IMHO. I usually cut one piece at 4 1/4 x 11. I score it at 5 1/2 and then slice one of the halves on the diagonal. I only get one "nice folded edge", but I flip the triangular piece of cardstock and attach it to the cut side with tape, brads, etc. (I hoard paper, so this is my answer to the problem.) This way, I can get two cards from one piece of cardstock. Hope this helps.

Ok, I went and tried it and now I get it! (The light bulb is coming on) I see how you have to use both pieces as one piece is not enough. This is a fun card but I know what you mean by wasting alot of cardstock. I love to hoard paper too! Thanks for the advice to use your other piece of triangular paper. I'll have to try that to conserve paper.

Glad its working for you. I'm very visual, and sometimes written instructions just don't help. Have fun!
