Versmark resist
 

I thought I knew this but I must be doing something wrong. I ink my stamp with versamark, onto glossy cardstock, brayer a color over it, but the image doesnt pop liek I have seen! Plus it smudges if wipes (I tried wiping the ink off). Am I missing a step?

yes, you have to emboss the versamark. If you dn't use the embossing powder it will smear.

Even embossing, I can never get the effect that I want (and see other people getting) using that technique. I think I am embossing challanged. lol

I don't emboss mine, but I do dry it with a heat gun before I brayer over it.

If you only use Versamark, you don't get a crisp image. It's also sometimes called ghosting. It just depends on the look you want.

I just did resist with versamark on glossy paper. My SU lady said that you have to press the versamark firmly. When you run your brayer back and forth, make sure you are pressing then as well as going at a steady speed. We did the two stamp technique and outlined in black which made the image pop off the page.

So, my advice is to make sure you have enough versamark on your stamp, press firmly and be sure to run your brayer at a steady speed.

Interesting. I love this SCS site!! I have had the same problem. Anytime I try anything DIFFERENT I fall flat on my face. One exception, and that was the shaving cream technique and that was so messy, I won't be doing that again soon!

I done it both ways, embossing and not. The key if you were not going to emboss seemed to be to let the versamark dry. Either with a heat gun, or by waiting roughly 10 years.

When I let it dry I got a nice resist image.

From my experience, I'd say add more ink. When I was trying the one technique where you do both plain VersaMark resist along with an embossed resist, I couldn't see the VM flowers until I added a ton more ink to the cardstock. Then they appeared in a very light shade of the ink color I was using.
