Velvet paper

I bought some velvet looking paper (by accident) and don't know what to do with it other than some background use. Does anyone know if I can stamp on this or not? Kinda leary of that. Thanks.

I saw a demo where it was stamped and/or embossed a long time ago, but I can't remember exactly how it was done. It was a cool effect though. I'm sure someone else will have some great ideas.

You can stamp on it. You can emboss on it with EP. You can put your stamp on the table, rubber up, cover with the velvet paper, velvet on the rubber, cover with another piece of paper and iron to impress the rubber stamp image on the velvet. Easy, fast and beautiful.

Oh,I'm so excited,...I love this stuff, you can cut the paper to accomidate your stamp, put the stamp upside down[rubber up] put your iron on the highest setting then place your paper velevt side down on the stamp and iron on top. There can be no water in iron,no steam, you want the flat portion of the iron to be on the stamp. I have done this on solid and detailed stamps, love them both. If you are doing a lot of them you need to cool the stamp,I usually rest after 6,put the stamp in the fridge, then after about 5 min take it out and have at it. I did my Easter cards that way,I think there is one in my gallery,it's a green card.Good luck,I could not find any examples in the gallery.

OK,I looked and I lied, will hunt it down tonight and put it in.

I've stamped on Velvet/Suade paper using regular classic/dye inks in the past.

I make purses with it!

I love to make purse cards with it. They turn out so cute.

But I never have taken a picture. I will take a picture next time I am at my mother-in-laws. She saves all my cards so I know she will have it.

You can also color the embossed images on the velvet paper with chalks and those little makeup brushes. The colors blend well. I did a pear stamp that looked great. You will need to spray it with fixative once you are done.

Marco's used to carry variety packs of velvet paper. Also, you can use these same techniques on velvet. That really looks rich and impressive.
