Question Quick question about burning.....

cardstock.
Hi all..........
I burned the edges of a layer of cardstock for a card.
They look really great. Better than what I was getting when I attempted a faux burn look by tearing and then using chalks. This just looks much better.
Anyway.....I am now having a smearing problem w/some of the soot.
I didn't think about this aspect.
Does anyone know of a way to seal the edges of this cardstock?
Anyone done this kind of thing before? How did you get it to stop smearing?
TIA!!!!
Cheers,
Stacy

I'm not sure what kind of sealer you could use. But I do have a better way to "burn" CS tear cs to achieve desired effect then with a cotton swap take pure lemon juice and go around the torn cs and then heat with your heat gun until the sugar in the lemon juice camerlizes, very nice effect. I know some people use hairspray for sealing things.

Clear Acrylic Sealer. It is sold by the Plaid company --- same folks that make all the acrylic craft paints. You can buy it at Wal-Mart.
To see what the can actually looks like, scroll up to the top of this page. Click on 'resources'. Scroll down and click on 'Soot Stamping'. Beate uses that brand to seal the black soot onto the glossy cardstock.

The Lemon Juice Aging technique is fun to do all over a card too. There are a couple in my gallery if you want to peek.

Wow guys! Thanks for the tips. I will ck them out.
I still think they should be sealed, but I took a paper towel and an eraser to them. I rubbed and rubbed w/the toweling (gently) until it appeared that most of the soot was off of it. Then I took an eraser to areas in the center, near the image, where you wouldn't want a blob of soot, and it took it right off. I think they are looking pretty good now. I will put them in my gallery just as soon as I finish them up today.

Thanks again!
Cheers,
Stacy
