Using corner rounder
How does one use the corner rounder to round the edges of your base card where the card folds?
Please see this card for an example of what I mean. The edges towards the bottom I can easily punch on their own. The edges near the top (where I'm having to punch through two thicknesses of cardstock) don't want to budge. What's the trick (if there is one)?
I do this all the time with my corner rounder that I bought at Walmart! You just have to squeeze hard to get through both layers. Maybe it works for me because I generally use Bazzill textured cardstock for my card bases? Depending on which texture I use, the Bazzill might be a little lighter than some other cardstocks.
I had this same problem over the weekend. I squeezed as hard as I could to get an inpression and then trimed with scissors. Not the best method, but the only solution I could come up with.
Anyone else have input (specifically those who use the SU corner rounder and SU cardstock)?
Thank you!
Linda
I have had the SU corner rounder work (recently when I did the popsicle cards). I will also use a sanding block to smooth out the rounded part. I guess just keep trying.
Maybe sharpen it with some foil?
As a demo and truly not wanting to "diss" an SU product, I have a few different corner rounders and ours is not my favorite.

I suggest rounding all the pieces before you assemble your card. It makes it easier for me, but i know sometimes the ideas get sparked AFTER you assemble. I dont know of any tricks out there.
I have an older corner rounder (retired from SU but made by EK Success as I believe all SU punches are). When rounding the top corners of a cardbase (which needs to be done closed therefore through 2 layers) I make sure I am punching on a very sturdy surface (thick desk with a smooth top) AND I use a non-slip mat (rubbery shelf liner).
One other important tip is to make sure it is lined up properly (look at the bottom) but punch with the lever on top for best leverage. Most other times I punch "upside down" so this is something to remember.
There are 2 new corner rounders from zutter called Round It All. They would go through that like butter! They can round matboard, chipboard, clipboard, metal, leather, etc....
There is a pink one and a blue one. The blue one is 1/4" and the pink one is 1/2" Here is a sample that I Googled. HTH
i have the creative memories one, and it is hard to make it punch, but it usually does and just leaves a bit of "furry" edges that i simply clean up with a sharp pair of scissors
There is a product called "Strong Arm" that will give more leverage to punches with a button on top. I got mine at AC Moore and is worth the price and saves on aching thumbs. It will make the punch punch cleanly.
Try standing up and leaning over the punch. This really helps me when I am trying to punch something that is just a little too thick. If that doesn't work, you can always have one of your kids hold the project to the punch for you on the floor and then put a piece of foil or wax paper over the punch and project (to keep it from getting dirty) and then use your heel. It sounds a bit crazy but the extra pressure really helps. LOL!
I recently had the same problem and ended up resorting to scissors. With the SU's lever punch design, I was afraid of pressing too hard and breaking the lever. I've been eyeing the Zutter corner rounders for a couple of weeks now

Yes, that's what I was going to suggest. I have the pink one and LOVE it!
