Default Tiles

Can someone tell me about the tiles. Are they used as coasters? What type of ink is used? Are they coated with something after they are stamped? If so, what are the coated with? Is something placed on the bottom like felt or cork so it doesn't scratch on table? Or, are these just simply for decor?

I am soooo glad you asked this question. I'd like to make some coasters/trivets for Christmas gifts. The tutorial by Gina K is awesome! I can't wait to give it a try. Thanks for the question and answer!
