Default Those little Cuttlebug embossing corners folders

Help? I have a few of the little embossing folders for my CB, and one in particular baffles me. It's got two corner embossers which, if I slip a paper in, of course, I get the two embossers.
All I want is to emboss a corner on a card, and I'm about to cut the unit in half so that I can just do a corner...am I missing something?
If those two corners stay together, I really see nowhere I'm going to use them.....help?

Well thank goodness it's not just ME who can't figure that folder out!
I mean...why on earth would you want two corner thingies facing each other?! I tell ya Ladies...this one's getting cut diagonally in half so that I can emboss corners! Hah!
(unless I'm really missing something here...but I don't think I am..)

I haven't tried it, but I guess I just assumed that you were supposed to emboss those on a separate square of paper and then cut them apart and attach to your card.

Well, Ladies...when my DH gets home from virtual golfing (it's never too early to practice, evidently, even if there's still 2' of snow out there , I'm going to ask him to cut them apart diagonally so that I can actually make beautiful embossed corners. Yep...that little unit really doesn't make any sense, so why is it glaring at me from that box?!

Cutting it in half....now THAT just makes sense!

Lindi........Cuttlebug embossing thingy destroyer!

I had thought of cutting them in half, but wasn't sure they would work... wouldn't be all hinged, would they? WHY do I have such a hard time "fixing" items that are already made? Good thing I love to alter tins, notebooks, etc!

If my DH cuts it 1/2 way across the hinged part, then diagonally up and separate them both, that should give each one a hinge!!

He said he'll ned his scroll saw to do it, which is at our DD's house...I'll let you know the result when it's done!

I mean...if it gets destroyed...what exactly is the LOSS??!! hahaha!!

I, too, have not used it but assumed you would put a smaller piece of paper in and then trim it to use. Related question (I think?). When you use those smaller embossing folders, does anyone else get the outline of the folder itself? Mine is embossing things that shouldn't be embossed. I want to say I have tried changing out plates but then it's not thick enough to emboss the image either. Help?

I have 2 sets of those embossing folders. I love them! One set I use and cut them out. The other set I cut to separate the 2 and just put a large piece of clear packaging tape as the hinge to it together. Put the tape on first before cutting. Be certain to keep the folder lined up properly. Not a difficult task to do.

It's the one with two "corner" embossing patterns on it, facing each other...unless you have realllly teensy cards, lol, they're not much use for anything except a weird looking very small stamp with two corners facing each other. The others are all fine..it's just this one that doesn't make sense. Oh. There is another one...two identical whisps of flowers...quite strange...I've never used it, either...

Exactly what my DH is going to do with that peculiar double corner embosser...but we think he can cut them is such a way as to give each piece 1/2 of the folding part. Yes, I have a few others and they work very well....My next purchase will be that "dotted" card-sized one..it looks like pique fabric..too cute!
Thanks for letting us know it worked that way!

Morgan, the only question I might have is how thick is your CS? Perhaps it's quite thick, and that's why it's happening. Does it do that to other papers, also? Sorry I couldn't be more help....Lindi

OMG Lindi!!! I was trying to figure this out earlier today and was loosing my mind!! Thank goodness it is not just me.

What I ended up doing was cutting a 2x2" piece of cardstock, fitting it into the teeny-weenie folder, rolled it through, and then cut the square in half. This then made *photo corners* with a little flair.

It was the only thing I could think of. Would love to hear what others have come up with.

Have you gone to the *destroyer side* yet?

Yep...that's how I thought it was supposed to be used, but sheesh...cutting teensy pieces of paper to use as photo-corners or something? I wanted to emboss the corners of cards and that just wasn't cutting it. (so to speak
No, my darling DH hasn't done any cutting yet, but I gave him carte blanche to go ahead and cut away! I can't wait until he has a few seconds to do that...wonder what he could use instead of his skill saw...seems like over-kill...lol...But the cut has to be a bit fiddly to give each side half of the bottom folding part....I shall report back, Pinky66...!
Yes...our son goes to Algonquin in Ottawa and you've really had your share of snow also, haven't you? Must be nicer now....we've had a very nice, melting day here! And it better continue if it knows what's good for it! hah!
Nice meeting you, Pinky!...Lindi!

Ah, small world. What is your son taking at Algonquin? Several of our friends children attend as well. One is taking the paramedics course, the other in some type of computer gaming and the other, well, I'm not sure to be honest what she is into.

With regards to the weather......insert profanities here!!.....

We have had our share of winter indeed! Listening to the news today I was startled by some facts....
Our first snow fall was Nov.20th
Since then (a total of 106 days) we have had 83 days of either snow or freezing rain. As of today we have received 327cm of snow this season. And guess what....a major snow/ice storm is expected this evening and into tomorrow!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - enough already!

Oh well, I am lucky enough to have a stamping space I can escape to.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

I asked this question a couple of months ago. I couldn't work out how to do the corners and how to emboss the others without leaving an imprint of the folder edges. The solutions which came out were to cut it diagonally leaving a hinge on both pieces, I haven't bothered as yet, I bought the set for the other 2 folders.
As for the imprint, some found their machines didn't leave an imprint at all. For those of us whos who did, some sanded the edges ( bevelled) and this worked for them. It didn't help me though, some one suggested working out a sandwhich stack, as I am using a Big Shot I found what worked for me was... white platforrm, folder with card inside and then some folded sheets of printer paper (7 1/2 sheets folded in 1/4 except for the 1/2 only fold once) and then the acrylic plate. No more folder edges.

You mean there *IS* a use for that folder?
I thought it was just there to take space in my collection and *look* pretty.
I was going to pawn it of on someone... or trade it.
I like the pattern, but I am not too big on photo corners... I do have a punch that does pretty corners...
Now I am going to have to dig it out and look again..
hmmm..
*smirk* I bet my three year old will find a use for it.

I cut mine in half. That was the only way I succeeded in using it to emboss the corners of this card:
http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...&ppuser=105620

I not only cut that one up, but another one too.
This is what two of my folder looks like now:

Exactly what I was going to do, Sophie...except my DH said he could cut that corner one from the folded edge so that both pieces could have a fold...As for the other one you cut..yep..it's on my list, too! Isn't it just too silly that something like that can be put on the market and we have to modify them?! Weird.

Your DH's idea is better than mine - I just cut mine without any forethought. The Cuttlebug design team just seems to have overlooked that!

And that is not the only stuff I modified... I also cut off the partial circles on my Bloom Dots folder, so I could emboss longer pieces of cardstock:

It's done. He started the cut at the open end and cut both at the same time until it got too deep into it, then opened it up, and cut each one individually, leaving 1/2 of the fold for each corner. Works like a dream. At least it's useful now!

So go on.....cut away! What's to lose if you don't use it anyway? ;-D

Why couldn't you just make a shim out of layered cardboard (or chipboard if you have it).
You cut out the shim around one of the corners so that when you run it through, only the side that has the solid cardboard over it will emboss. Then just turn the shim over to do the other half.

Would someone please tell me which embossing folder you are talking about. I have gone to the Cuttlebug website and cannot find any corner embossers. Thanks.

Sorry this reply is so late. I just read this thread

It is called " Formal Squares" code 37-1251
There are 4 small embossing folders in the set.
2 folders are the mirror image corners . 2 of them are filigree style squares that are about 1.5" square. I wanted them to emboss the filigree squares and put a monogram letter in the center.
They may be discontinued because I bought them on clearance at HL
If you want them you may find them on e-Bay
Hope this helps
