Template for this anyone?

I was looking at the Darcie's website.. I love the stamps from there and saw this project but I'm not good at figuring templates, especially this early in the morning.. Does anyone already have one for this type of card? Because it is really just too darn cute!!

bluegirl 12-27-2008 04:41 AM

sorry I do not have a template but wow I love this card it is sooo cute and adorable I may even try to make one like this too.

Kimberli 12-27-2008 04:43 AM

I don't see a template anywhere (I looked and looked!). I would think if you used a rectangular sheet and scored it on each side to make a double door when closed in, then trace and cut out the heart shape while it's closed, then you would have your own template.

craftjunkiesc 12-27-2008 05:51 AM

I don't have a clue where to find the template, but I think I'm gonna try Kimberli's suggestion. What an awesome card! I think I've found my Valentine card idea for this (well, next) year.

I am not good at figuring thi gs out either. If anyone finds a template, I would love to have it too.
Thanks

Ok well I am new here but had a thought as I was looking at the image cant you fold a 12x12 peice of cardstock like a I think its called trifold (2 sides in to meet at center) I have a CM heart shape cutter system and just cut it that way well I guess you would have to have a heart cutting system to do it but that might work as long as you dont cut where the folds are???? I may try that but I am interested in this too. ~Stef

bluegirl 12-27-2008 01:06 PM

if you trifold a 12x12 that would make your base 6 in. wide so if you square that then cut out the heart. So I am going to try half a sheet of 8.5x11 sheet and try and play with that and see what I can do that would make the heart about 41/4 in. wide and 51/2 tall at a rough estimate if you have a good heart stencil or pattern you can trace the heart onto your trifold paper and then cut it out with decorative scissors to make it look a bit frilly oh my mind is going a hundred miles an hour right now thatnks for getting my brain going I love it !!! now to get it on paper Hmmm sometimes the minds eye and your hands dont cooperate LOL well girls have a great afternoon.

Birman lover 12-27-2008 06:02 PM

I don't think you can use a heart-shaped cutter because if you look at the card, you will see on both sides of the heart a "flat spot" where the fold is. If you cut a complete heart, you will wind up with two hearts. It appears that it was hand cut. Maybe??

trulyblessed 12-27-2008 06:48 PM

I have made a template for you - finished size is roughly 5" X 5" you would stamp, cut and attach your graphic(the bear) on one side of the heart "door" Hope this helps you I don't know how else to submit it in this post....(when u click on the link, it shows at 63%, just click "full size" to get it)

Trulyblessed,
You've blessed us!
You're a sweetie. Thank you so much!

marciad 12-28-2008 12:17 PM

Here's my guess using a die cut machine and heart die. Fold a piece of cs into a gatefold. Be sure that when you place the cs onto the die that the right and left folds are inside the knife edge of the die heart. Maybe use Nesties die to do this. Let us know if anyone tries this.

franb63 template

This one looks very easy. Just take a 6"x12" cardstock and trifold it to the middle and use a cup or small plate to cut your heart shape at the top and for the bottom cut a couple inches down to the center. Experiment with it and see what looks O.K. to you and their you have your own template.Make it look like a heart. Their is no wrong way to do this.:) For the layers do the same but cut 1/8 inch smaller and their you have your layer template. Don't be afraid to try it . It's only a sheet of paper if it don't turn out the first time. Have Fun with it.

mopzsix 12-28-2008 01:28 PM

if the templet doent work for you i played with the ideas below and found that if i took a 4 x 11 in piece of computer paper and folded it in half then
unfold it the take outer edges and fold them to the fold line you just made in the middle now you will have three fold lined with outer edges still at the middle fold closed draw your heart shape on the out side and cut but remeber to leave the hinged for the outer side of your card hope this helps

bensarmom 12-28-2008 05:39 PM

I did the same thing as debbie j, with a 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of computer paper. I'm going to try this with card stock and designer paper.

KyleHannah 12-28-2008 05:47 PM

My dh is the best he helped me with my template

i took a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and scored the longest side and scored them by
2 3/4 on each side then fold them together to make a nice fold on both sides
then I drew a big heart on a seperate piece of paper and traced it on the scroed folded piece of paper and put it in the middle of the two folds to make the card and it came out just like the first post good luck everyone

have fun I am very easy to make Gotta love when your hubby supports you mine is the best with helping me figure out my card problems :)

Your template DID work. Sometimes I like the challenge of working something out. I printed out your template in landscape setting, and it was a little bigger than the typical card I make, so I set about making one that fits the size I usually make.
I have been playing around with your template printing it out different sizes. That's a neat feature of using your template.........you can easily change the size and cut out one size for cardstock and one size smaller for your designer paper.........
Thanks for taking the time to make the template. It's going in my project file. You are awesome for sharing this.:D

KyleHannah 12-28-2008 06:16 PM

Thanks for your template I just could not print it out right yours gave me the idea and i appreciate it :)

trulyblessed 12-28-2008 06:30 PM

Ok, it prints out to 5 X 5 on my puter....thought maybe I had something wrong. I do everything digitally, including stamping & embossing so wasn't sure it was working for you guys.

Okay here's my sample, inside and out. I started with an 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 sheet of paper(typical card size).

not sure what I did wrong but it only printed 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" on mine. :( I clicked full size.
