STAMPING ON CANVAS-NEED HELP FAST!

I am teaching a workshop at a Girl Scout Event a week from tomorrow and one of the projects is to stamp on a little canvas purse. Can I use craft pads to stamp on them, or do I need to get fabric paints? If I use craft pads, how do you set the colors so they don't run when the get wet? Please help, I am in a time crunch here!

If you are using craft pads, you need to heat set the image with an embossing gun (or an iron after it's dried..) here's a link with lots of info: Forums at Splitcoaststampers

I have also used fabric paints, acrylics with a textile medium added into it, and oil sticks (shiva sticks).. which seem to be making quite a come back recently.
