Default paper knots disaster

Ok, so I've ripped 18 strips of paper trying to tie a knot. Can anyone give me some helpful hints for success?

What type of knot are you trying to tie? I am not sure I understand what look you are going for.

Oh, yes, more details...
I can't get to it right now (the site's a tab bit slow), but I've seen in the gallery people using paper in the place of ribbon. It's super cute b/c is ads a little more depth. I'm trying to tie it around a layer and tie a square knot.

I'll try and post a link to an example, but in the meantime, hopefully that gives you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Try softening up the fibers of the cs before trying to tie it. You can do that by gently pulling it back and forth on the edge of your table. Hope that helps.

No, not yet. I just gave up. Do you know any tricks for paper?

The thing I usually do is tie the knot (gently) FIRST. I use 2 pieces of paper strips. I have an easier time tying the knot when they're not wrapped around the layer paper. When I'm done with knot, then I tape the ends around the back. See if that might help a little...
