Stupid Scrapbook page question
 

I love the interactive elements on pages that allow you to lift up a picture to read the journaling (or vice-versa). I have seen some elements that you attach with a brad and slide to the side to read the journaling or view a picture. My question, when your pages are in your albums in sleeves, how do you get to these things?!?

Not a stupid question at all.

Just slide the page out of the sleeve.

Go onto DIYnet.com and look up the scrapbooking show. They have showed many ways to handle interactive pages and most of them include actually cutting out your page protector to accommodate the interactive part. The woman who hosts the show is Sandi Genevese and she is a representative of the the Ellison Die Cut company. She does some wonderful stuff and I really like how she makes her interactive pages accessible without exposing the whole page. She does a lot of other great stuff too and all the patterns for what she does is on the web site. I think that you will find it very helpful.

I had actually considered cutting the area out of my protector. I wasn't sure how that would look.

Sorry, I just made a bad comment about Sandi Genevese on another thread. She needs to update her hair-do!!! I do enjoy her show and have gotten many great ideas. I checked into her Ellison die cut system about a yr. ago. It is very, very pricey. Do you have it?

If I have something that needs to be opened I will cut a flap around it. I will usually do this wiht page in the protecter , using my craft knife. I leave it attached on one side, then when you want to open it you just lift the page protecter up or over. Does that make sense.

Oh, what a riot! My name is Laurel, too, and posted this exact same question on the Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Discussion Forum just this week!!! Funny, funny!

I received a number of responses, and basically, the technique is to cut a hole in the page protector right at the interactive element. Another idea was to put the moving part (i.e. swinging cover or pull-up) on the outside of the protector with a brad, for example.

I know, there are so many indea for interactive and pop-ups and pull-outs and hinges and accordian mini-albums and flips, but there's not parallel advice as to how to fit it all in page protectors.
