Static in Shaker Cards
 

I have been getting into making shaker cards and I just love the result... but I am having a problem with static. The items inside the shaker window are sticking to the clear acrylic sheet. I have tried rubbing the background paper with an embossing buddy but it just doesn't help. Anyone have an idea to solve my static problem? What brand or type of clear sheet do you use? Thanks in advance for all the tips.

Rubbing an embossing buddy on the acetate leaves a residue, so I don't recommend that. Some have found success with rubbing a used dryer sheet on it.

I have used the Embossing Buddy to tap against the foam adhesive edges to prevent the shaker goodies from staying stuck to the inside edges. But, I'm with most others in that I dislike the residue showing on the acetate. I've also read that lightly smudging on a bit of baby powder will work for anti-adhesive there too.

I use cheap dryer sheets for anti-friction ... but mine are not used in the dryer first. Pretty nice scent in that cabinet too! Ha "Unscented" sheets might be more popular with a lot of peeps though.

I tried the used dryer sheet and it worked! I also found an older post that suggested rubbing a used dryer sheet on already finished cards and that worked as well. Thanks Adrianna and Texas Grammy!

I agree with the dryer sheet!

I like to put some seed beads in with the sequins. If the sequins cling to the acetate the seed beads knock them off again!

Has anyone tried die cutting small stars, circles, etc. from a new dryer sheet then putting 2-3 of the die cuts in the shaker? I am just getting back into stamping and have the embossing buddy but maybe dryer sheets do better?????

I never thought to use a dryer sheet. Totally going to try that!

OT-ish but I also use a dryer sheet when moving staticky sequins into containers. I rub my fingers on the sheet and rub a bit of the sheet into the sequin pack opening. If the static is still strong, I dump the sequins onto the sheet, fold it over and gently press down. Then I dump them - kind of like when you fold a coffee filter or piece of paper to dump left over embossing powder back into the container. I keep the sheet in a little zip lock.

It's funny how some sequins have huge amounts of static but others non.
